A man named Anmol Bhatia has been arrested in connection with a break-in at an apartment in West Hollywood where a resident’s dog was killed. This was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday evening.
Bhatia was taken into custody around 7 p.m. close to the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Elm Drive. At this point, officials haven’t shared specific details on how law enforcement found him or the circumstances that led to his arrest.
The situation took a tragic turn on the night of September 4, when deputies responded to a burglary report in the 1200 block of North Harper Avenue. The apartment’s resident informed the deputies that his dog had been left alone and had died during the break-in.
Footage from surveillance cameras in the apartment showed the suspect entering shortly after 11:30 p.m. The disturbing video revealed the intruder mistreating the small dog until it lost consciousness. Unfortunately, by the time deputies arrived, the dog was already deceased.
