A man hailing from Los Angeles is now facing charges following a burglary that took place in Thousand Oaks. This comes after a comprehensive month-long investigation led by authorities in Ventura County.

The incident first came to light on August 29 when deputies were called to a residence on Dewdrop Place, where homeowners reported that someone had broken into their house the night before, making off with valuables. Upon assessment, patrol deputies confirmed there were signs of forced entry, and the case was handed over to the detectives from the East County Investigations Bureau’s Burglary Team.

Employing what they describe as covert surveillance along with various investigative methods, detectives eventually identified a 22-year-old man from Los Angeles as a suspect linked to the break-in.

Fast forward to November 3, investigators tracked down the suspect in Los Angeles. Reportedly, he tried to escape but was quickly apprehended after a brief chase involving members from both the East County Investigations Bureau and the Special Enforcement Unit.

In an unrelated ruling, a man from Los Angeles was sentenced to serve time for attempting to exploit a woman in an incident on Figueroa Corridor.

Following his arrest, the suspect was taken to the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility, where he was booked on charges of residential burglary. His bail has been set at $50,000, and he’s due to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on November 19 at 1:30 p.m.

Following these events, local authorities are urging residents to bolster their home security measures. This includes the installation of alarm systems, cameras, and appropriate lighting to deter any potential break-ins. They also recommend that any suspicious activity be reported immediately either to 911 or the department’s non-emergency line at 805-654-9511.
