A 19-year-old man, Trevon Robinson, has found himself in some serious trouble after carjacking a Rolls-Royce from an elderly woman in Chicago. Now, he won’t be experiencing any luxuries for a while, as he’s been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
On the fateful day in June 2024, Robinson orchestrated a dangerous theft. The 83-year-old victim was calmly driving her shiny silver 2017 Rolls-Royce Wraith when a dark SUV driven by him blocked her way. Authorities reported that Robinson threatened her with a gun to get away with the high-end car.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the carjacking task force, police tracked Robinson down shortly after the theft. It didn’t take long for authorities to catch up with him.
As per WGN-TV, records from the court revealed that, intriguing enough, Robinson even filmed himself trailing the stolen Rolls-Royce on that very day. Even more chilling was that police found a note in his phone with the woman’s home address on it.
During the time of this ghastly act, Robinson was already on parole for a previous conviction related to carrying a weapon without authorization—he had served 18 months for this offense. Fortunately, Alderman Matthew O’Shea (19th Ward) confirmed that the victim managed to escape unharmed during the whole ordeal.
O’Shea expressed his gratitude towards the Chicago Police and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for their swift action in taking such a dangerous repeat offender off the streets.
