An artist has shared her experience of abruptly leaving a venue after realizing that US Vice President JD Vance would be in attendance.

Dolly Mavies, an alternative post-folk musician based in Oxfordshire, revealed on social media that she and her band “packed up our gear and left” once they learned the show was meant for the holidaying vice president.

Currently, JD Vance is enjoying part of his summer vacation nearby in Charlbury, a village tucked away in the tranquil Cotswolds.

This isn’t his only recent engagement, as he was also seen meeting with Foreign Secretary David Lammy at Chevening House, a place traditionally granted for such high-profile guests.

Dolly Mavies, whose real name is Molly Davies, is known for her unique style, blending heartfelt folk storytelling with the driving rhythms of rock.

Upon arriving at the familiar venue, she mentioned feeling a “weird vibe” and soon learned Vance would be in attendance.

Expressing their disapproval, she noted, “Being not fans of his policies, we decided this wasn’t the gig for us and opted to leave. Because principles are worth more than a paycheck.”

Interestingly, Vance is staying in a location quite close to Diddly Squat – a popular farm and pub owned by broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson.

Meanwhile, other American residents in the Cotswolds include TV host Ellen DeGeneres, who expressed that she relocated to the area specifically to escape former President Donald Trump and his followers.
