Ben Affleck and Matt Damon Cancel Hulk Hogan Film Project

Looks like the much-anticipated film about Hulk Hogan starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon is officially canceled, as reported by TMZ. The site indicates that the duo called it quits on the project a while back, and this choice was nothing to do with Hogan’s death last week.

The flick, named Killing Gawker, was intended to delve into Hogan’s heated battle against the controversial gossip site Gawker, which released his infamous sex tape, showing him engaging with a friend’s wife and using a racial slur back in 2007. This legal dispute ultimately ended up bankrupted Gawker in 2016.

The actors’ production company, Artists Equity, secured the script back in 2024. There were whispers that Affleck was set to portray Hogan, who wasn’t officially linked to this production. A source even mentioned to TMZ last year that Hogan wouldn’t shy away from potential legal action if he felt that the film treaded too far.

Additionally, another movie focused on Hogan was in the works – a biopic featuring Chris Hemsworth, which actually had Hogan on board to consult and produce. However, that didn’t materialize before Hogan sadly passed away last Thursday at 71 due to cardiac arrest.
