Ben Stiller’s latest family documentary, Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, makes its way to theaters on October 17 and will be available for streaming on Apple TV starting October 24.

Key Points to Note

  • Chris Rock appreciates Ben Stiller’s reunion with his wife, Christine Taylor, after their split in 2017.
  • In a recent chat with The New York Times, Rock hailed Stiller as “one of the greatest comic actors to ever live”.
  • This interview coincides with the release of Stiller’s documentary, which focuses on his iconic parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara.

Chris Rock is acknowledging the efforts of his buddy Ben Stiller.

During an interview conducted by The New York Times, as part of their October 16 story on Ben Stiller, the 60-year-old actor praised Stiller, saying, “I’m striving to get to where he is; it’s so far ahead that I can’t even see it.” Stiller is now 59 and has been part of Rock’s circle since the ’90s.

In the same interview, Rock showered praise on Ben and Christine Taylor for their success in reuniting after their 2017 separation. He humorously remarked, “Getting a marriage back on track is more challenging than making a $600 million movie.”

Even post-split, the couple have maintained a supportive friendship; for instance, Taylor was there for Stiller during the 2019 Emmy Awards. In 2022, the Night at the Museum star disclosed that they found their way back to each other during the pandemic, living together with their children, Ella (23) and Quin (20).

In his documentary, Stiller shares insights about their reconciliation, noting, “Suddenly, we were under the same roof again, and at that moment, I began to work on the film. It felt like a reunion, where we could discuss our issues while also reflecting on my parents’ relationship in a new light.”

As Stiller reminisced about their early days during a TV pilot called Heat Vision and Jack, he recalled a strong sentiment: “I don’t want to turn into my parents,” aware of the complexities surrounding his well-known comedian parents’ partnership.

However, just like his parents, Stiller and Taylor have managed to make their relationship work. He stated in an interview with PEOPLE at the New York Film Festival premiere, “I couldn’t be more thankful to arrive at a point where we can have these conversations. It turns out there were many aspects of our relationship that reflected my parents’ relationship, which I hadn’t even realized before. Christine’s perspective on these things is outstanding, and I’m just glad we had the chance to talk about it and be in this moment together.”

Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost is screening in select theaters starting October 17 and will be available for streaming on Apple TV on October 24.
