(KTLA) – Darius McCrary, who shot to fame as Eddie Winslow on the beloved ’90s show ‘Family Matters,’ was detained by U.S. Border Patrol on October 5. This information has been confirmed by reports from People and TMZ.

McCrary, aged 49, is currently held without bail at a jail in San Diego. The arrest was linked to a warrant from Michigan according to Ann Barlow, the actor’s spokesperson. This warrant stems from a missed court date tied to unpaid child support.

It’s worth noting that McCrary has faced legal trouble before, as he was also arrested for failure to pay child support in both 2015 and earlier in 2023. His divorce from Tammy Brawner, a former Harlem Globetrotter in 2017, added further complications. The divorce settled with Brawner receiving full custody of their daughter Zoey, while McCrary was required to participate in drug and alcohol rehab and a program for addressing abusive behavior to gain visitation rights.

Nexstar has reached out to McCrary’s representatives for further comment, but no response was received immediately.

The first court hearing for McCrary is set for October 15.
