Are you ready for a deep dive into the legendary Kansas City Chiefs? Well, look no further! The documentary series ‘The Kingdom’, produced by ESPN, Disney+, and Skydance Sports, is making its debut tonight. With appearances by none other than quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid, they’ve shared some behind-the-scenes thoughts on the process of filming last season.
During a recent press conference at training camp, Mahomes expressed his excitement, saying, “I’ve seen parts for sure. The documentary is fantastic! It features the season, but also dives into the amazing history of the Kansas City Chiefs. There were things in there that I didn’t know—I thought I was pretty knowledgeable on everything regarding our team! The Hunt family and Disney really did it right, and I felt privileged to be part of it after the season. As a lifelong fan of documentaries, it’s exciting to see these stories unfold.”
This six-part docuseries is not just a look back at the last season but also an exploration of the Chiefs’ remarkable legacy over six decades. It promises a blend of exclusive content and intriguing revelations focusing on the upcoming 2024 season.
Coach Reid chimed in, sharing a candid moment, “The owner asked me to do it (laughs), so it’s not exactly my idea! But hey, he’s the boss. Once I was in, I was all in! I was really impressed with how the crew maneuvered around us without being a distraction, which is usually my biggest concern with these things. They handled everything very professionally, and there was no need for me to tell them to step back—we made it work seamlessly.”
You can catch the first two episodes tonight on ESPN starting at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. CT, and all six episodes will be available for streaming on ESPN+ and Disney+.
