In a surprising turn, Jason Momoa has traded in his signature beard, and it seems he’s not entirely loving the new look.
The actor’s shave wasn’t just a whim; it was part of a bigger message about the dangers of single-use plastics. After seeing his bare face for the first time, Momoa quipped, “I hate it!” before getting a kick out of his reflection.
Momoa shared the moment on Instagram, tagging a video of himself doing the deed with an electric razor. He wrote, “Haven’t shaved in six years, and here we are again.”
He also took the chance to shine a light on his sustainable water initiative, sharing that Mananalu aims to cut out single-use plastic by saying, “We don’t need it.”
During the shaving process, he emphasized the importance of Mananalu, stating, “This is the kickoff. I want to inform people that Mananalu is out there trying to make change.”
As he gazed at his half-shaved face, Momoa couldn’t help but laugh and exclaimed, “Oh man.” This isn’t the first time Momoa has taken the clippers for a cause; back in 2019, he shaved for the launch of Mananalu.
Back then, he told everyone, “I’m shaving this beast off. It’s time to make a change,” and noted it was his first shave since 2012. Six years ago, he seemed much happier with the result, saying, “Looks pretty good!”
Although Momoa’s enthusiasm for his post-shave look in 2025 might not match how he felt back in 2019, his current girlfriend Adria Arjona showed support by leaving heart emojis on his post.
Reports say, “She makes him happy,” highlighting how well Arjona matches Momoa’s adventurous vibe. They both share a love for the outdoors and enjoy hitting the open road on motorcycles.
Arjona and Momoa began their relationship shortly after his breakup with ex-wife Lisa Bonet—together they have two children, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf. Momoa and Bonet ended their marriage in early 2022 before formally divorcing in January 2024.
As for Arjona, whom he started dating a few months after his divorce, an insider noted, “He cares about her. She’s good to him and a lovely, genuine person. They connect easily and enjoy each other’s company.”
Momoa’s kids were also spotted attending a red-carpet event with Arjona. Reflecting on family time, he previously said about his kids, “I spent a lot of time hanging out with them when they were younger, and now they’re making their own friends. Luckily, they still like me, which is a win!”
Regarding the beard shave, Momoa revealed it was part of his prep for his role in Dune: Part Three, joking about director Denis Villeneuve, saying, “Only for you, Denis,” as he reluctantly moved forward with the shave.
Interestingly, Momoa’s son Nakoa-Wolf will also act alongside him in this film, and Momoa humorously noted that Nakoa is in for a “rude awakening” as he steps into his first movie role.
“It’s going to be great for him, though. He’s done this on his own, and I couldn’t be prouder. You want your kids to surpass you, and he’s definitely going to give me a run for my money!” he remarked.
