Keke Palmer Shares Why She Canceled Jonathan Majors Podcast Interview Amid Backlash

Keke Palmer has made it clear why she opted to cancel the airing of her podcast interview with Jonathan Majors after facing significant backlash. The situation quickly escalated after it was revealed that Majors was convicted of two misdemeanor offenses involving reckless assault and harassment against his former girlfriend Grace Jabbari back in December 2023. Following the trial, he received probation along with mandatory courses on domestic violence and ongoing counseling.

Palmer had recorded this interview for an upcoming episode of her podcast, Baby, This is Keke Palmer. However, the widespread outcry online prompted a reconsideration, and the final decision was to not release the episode.

In her discussion with The Breakfast Club, she stated, “When I’m hosting, my goal is to remain unbiased. I believe you can’t agree with every action of someone who sits in your chair, but you need to create a space for dialogue.”

She continued, “In the end, along with my team, it was decided not to go ahead with airing it since people felt it could be seen as insensitive.”

Palmer mentioned that the recorded interview could still be accessed if there was public interest. “It’s still there if folks want to check it out. I strive to be respectful of everyone’s perspectives. If the audience doesn’t think they’ll take away something valuable from the interview, then I totally respect that.”

She reflected on the complexities of the situation, noting the difficulty in understanding why Majors shouldn’t have the opportunity to be heard. “People frequently interview individuals with much darker pasts. I’m not saying he’s anywhere close to that, but as a journalist, I believe in open conversations that allow the public to form their own conclusions. Sadly, that chance didn’t materialize here.”

On a positive note, Palmer also mentioned that Majors married actress Meagan Good earlier this year, expressing her support for the couple. “I genuinely wish them both the best. I don’t like to judge others, as I wouldn’t want to be judged myself. So in summary, I’m truly happy for them.”
