Leaked ‘Madame Web’ Photos: Could This Have Been the Movie We Wanted?

Estimated read time 2 min read

Have you ever wondered if Madame Web could have actually been a fantastic movie? Recently, some leaked photos have surfaced on social media, featuring Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor all decked out in their superhero attire from the Sony/Marvel flick. They portray Julia Cornwall/Spider-Woman, Anya Corazón, and Mattie Franklin. While it’s still up for debate whether these images are the real deal or just clever fakes, they definitely spark the thought that a film where these actresses truly embody superhero greatness might have been way more enjoyable than the final product we saw.

On August 27, Superhero Hype dropped a report about these photos, which originally popped up on X. Yahoo picked up the story, and now it’s spreading everywhere. Interestingly enough, the original posts of these photos on X seem to have disappeared, but multiple versions are still floating around on sites like X and Instagram.

Fans React: Mixed Feelings About the Leaked Madame Web Images

It looks like fans are not holding back their thoughts on these leaked images. Most reactions show excitement mixed with a bit of annoyance that these costumes and heroes didn’t get more screen time. One user, PridefulSin on X, lamented, “It’s pretty wild that these costumes appear for only about 10 seconds in the film!” Another critic, known as MoviesThatMaher, pondered, “How could Sony see these designs and decide not to feature them throughout the entire movie? They look so great!”

If you missed it, in the final cut seen in 2024, these talented actresses only get a fleeting glimpse in their costumes during a flash-forward. In the movie’s present timeline, they don’t become the spider-themed heroes. This shortcoming, along with clunky dialogue and an incoherent plot, has led to a pretty dismal reception for Madame Web. Right now, its Rotten Tomatoes score sits at a mere 10 percent. However, the audience score is slightly better at 53 percent. It is quite the head-scratcher; if they’d dressed the characters in the cool superhero outfits for most of the film, could it have scored higher? In this universe, we’ll never truly find out.
