Joel Dommett’s Funny Mishap
Joel Dommett, the host of The Masked Singer, is in hot water after a hilarious blunder during the Christmas special. Despite having a solid six years of experience under his belt, it looks like even seasoned pros can slip up from time to time!
In a reality show where celebs remain hidden in outrageous costumes to keep their identities a mystery, a quick reveal can really spoil the fun. The upcoming Boxing Day episode faced such a disaster when Joel accidentally named a contestant out loud during shooting.
On the “Naughty Step” for a Reason
In a candid chat, Joel humorously remarked, “I was on the naughty step.” His error? Unknowingly spilling a contestant’s name—who was, surprisingly, dressed as Mistletoe! The show’s delighted and surprised audience burst into laughter when he made his slip, sending him heartily blushing as he humorously fell to the floor.
Fortunately for him, most of the judges had pretty much figured out who it was already. However, producers weren’t about to let it slide; Joel was told in no uncertain terms not to let it happen again.
Can’t Wait for the Special!
Contrary to the mini disaster, Joel confirmed,
“I’m glad it didn’t totally derail the show.” Still, it looks like the rest of the contestants like Figgy Pudding, Goose A-Laying, and Santa’s Sack are still hiding in the costumes, so there’s more fun to come!
Looks like The Masked Singer is usually filled with surprising moments! Earlier this year, we saw another contestant, Toad in the Hole, stomp off stage before revealing themselves as the renowned R&B star Macy Gray! The entire scene was said to be pretty awkward, with Joel later expressing, “It was so awkward.”
He went on the air with BBC Radio 2’s Fearne Cotton, recalling, “They cut it out! I’m absolutely livid about that. It might be the funniest I have ever been!”
The festive edition of The Masked Singer will premiere on Boxing Day at 7.30 PM on ITV1!
