A recent incident aboard a Royal Caribbean International cruise ship grabbed attention when a guest toppled over the edge of an infinity pool.
Video that made its way online shows the individual leaning over the railing in the adults-only Hideaway area of the Icon of the Seas, located on Deck 15. A clip shared on Instagram by the “Only in Florida” account on July 27 captures the moment just before the guest’s legs shot up and they flipped over the side.
In a statement to USA TODAY, Royal Caribbean Group, the cruise line’s parent organization, clarified the situation: “A guest accidentally fell onto the pool gutter after reaching over to retrieve their sunglasses. Our crew immediately attended to the guest, and luckily they did not sustain any injuries.”
The company refrained from revealing any information about the identity of the guest involved.
This incident occurred during a cruise that began on July 26, 2023, which is taking passengers from Miami to exciting destinations in Mexico, Honduras, and the Bahamas, as shared by CruiseMapper.
Sadly, this mishap isn’t the only alarming event on the Icon recently. Earlier this month, a crew member reportedly jumped overboard following an assault on a fellow employee. Thankfully, the victim was in stable condition as of July 25.
