Aaron Paul’s New Chapter in Paris
Aaron Paul, known for his role in ‘Breaking Bad’, recently opened up about his top travel destinations, especially his love for Italy. He also shared insights into his new caviar venture with Travel + Leisure.
Reflecting on his childhood, Aaron recalls growing up with limited finances but overflowing with love in a constantly changing environment. As a son of a Baptist preacher in Idaho, his family moved frequently, never sticking to one place for too long.
Once he settled in LA at 17 to chase after his acting dreams, Aaron utilized every cent he earned from commercials and music videos to explore the world. Despite how differently he travels now—always packing candles for ambiance and music for the vibe—he often reminisces about his early days as a budget backpacker. “I don’t do youth hostels anymore, but I definitely suggest trying it out at least once in your life; I had the best experiences!” he mentioned while chatting with Travel + Leisure during an F1 bash for his new caviar initiative.

This year, Paul prioritized his family’s well-being. After the recent wildfires in LA, he and his wife Lauren decided to sell their home in the city and relocate their kids to Paris. “We’ve always dreamt of spending a year in Paris, relishing the food, history, and culture. Every time I visit, I wish I could stay longer. We also felt it was super important for our kids to learn a new language and immerse themselves in a different culture,” he explained.
Since settling in Paris just a few months ago, the family has already taken a quick trip to London. Aaron shares, “I have two adorable kids—my seven and a half year old daughter named Story and my three and a half year old son, Ryden. The education system in France has both public and private options, and every six weeks, the kids get two weeks off to explore Europe. We’re really enjoying this European lifestyle; it feels like a dream come true.”
They’re gearing up for an exciting surprise holiday trip to Rovaniemi, Finland, where they’ll revel in a North Pole experience. “The kids will be thrilled! We’re flying into Finland, staying in glass igloos, and embarking on reindeer-driven sleds to find Santa in the woods,” Aaron chuckled with excitement.
Looking ahead to next year, another adventure awaits Aaron at his latest business endeavor: a sustainable caviar farm south of Milan. “It’s a beautiful location right on top of a river, created back in the 50s initially to raise eels and then, in 1969, started focusing on organic sturgeon. It’s got history and quality,” he mentioned.
Throughout his Hollywood journey, Aaron has traveled far and wide, filming in diverse places like Mexico, Spain, Finland, and even New Zealand. His love for Europe remains strong, especially highlighted by his multiple Icelandic adventures and a trip to the fjords in Norway.
With his wife and kids holding Italian citizenship, a move to Italy isn’t entirely off the table. Jokingly, Paul adds, “We might just ride their excellent connections straight to Italy in the future!”
From his travels across Italy for films, Aaron found a special affection for Todi near Tuscany and expressed his admiration for Florence, admitting it might hold the title for his favorite city. But he also thinks all of Italy is wonderful. “Rome is undeniably stunning, so is Tuscany—but wait until you see the enchanting landscapes of Cinque Terre. It’s spectacular in a Pixar sort of way! I can’t believe it’s real—between the vibrant colors and romantic ambiance, it’s exactly how you’d imagine it,” he said.
As part of his caviar venture alongside Dos Hombres partner Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad, Aaron has developed quite the adventurous taste—the culinary aspect of his journeys excites him. He even indulges in Italian cuisine despite his gluten sensitivity, humorously stating, “If I eat pizza, it expands my belly like I’m expecting a baby, but it’s totally worth it.”
When they lived in LA, their favorite getaway was Maui. With its friendly family atmosphere, beautiful beaches, great weather, and splendid stays at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, it has always been their version of paradise.
Ultimately, Aaron also craves new experiences. His dream location? Antarctica, where he’ll undoubtedly take his family along, just as he does on most of his travels now.
