Estimated read time 6 min read

Back in December 2026, Kelly Osbourne had some strong words for those who were making comments about her significant weight loss online.

Quick Facts

  • Kelly’s been open about her struggles with health for many years.
  • She dropped 85 lbs. after getting gastric sleeve surgery in 2018.
  • In December 2025, she mentioned having trouble eating following her father’s passing and addressed critics of her looks.

Since shooting to fame on her family’s reality show, The Osbournes, over 20 years ago, Kelly Osbourne has been candid about her battles with body image and weight.

She recalled a vivid memory from her childhood in a 2024 episode of The Osbournes Podcast, where a talent agent told her she was “too fat for TV” and advised her to lose weight to become more attractive. “He told me I ‘could be a movie star if I lost weight,’” she recounted.

As an adult, Kelly managed to shed 85 lbs. thanks to gastric sleeve surgery, although she found herself again grappling with her self-image during her pregnancy with her son, Sidney, born in 2022.

In a 2024 interview with PEOPLE, she expressed how hard it was on herself during the ups and downs of gaining and losing baby weight. “I didn’t need to hide” was her affirmation during that tough period.

More recently, after losing weight following her father Ozzy Osbourne’s death, she had a firm response for critics commenting on her drastic transformation.

“To those who think it’s funny to say things like ‘Are you sick?’ or ‘Get off Ozempic, you don’t look right.’ Listen, my dad just passed away. I’m doing my best,” she stated in a now-deleted video, adding a clear “f— off” for good measure.

Let’s explore everything Kelly has said regarding her weight loss and health journey throughout the years.

In August 2020, Osbourne shared that she underwent gastric sleeve surgery approximately two years earlier. This procedure reduces the stomach size, promoting a feeling of fullness with smaller food portions.

“I had surgery, and honestly, I don’t care what anyone says,” she stated during her appearance on the Hollywood Raw podcast. “I will never lie about it; it’s one of the best decisions I ever made.”

Beyond surgery, she made lifestyle changes including exercising and improving her eating habits. “If you don’t work out and eat right, weight gain is inevitable,” she noted, emphasizing that the surgery offers a startup boost, not the solution itself.

She also revealed that the procedure assisted her in managing drug and alcohol cravings, as it affects hormones tied to addiction and emotional eating.

Kelly welcomed her son named Sidney with her partner Sid Wilson(Wilson is known as the drummer for Slipknot) in 2022. She mentioned that during her pregnancy, she chose to stay away from public events to avoid harsh judgments about her body.

“I gained 100 lbs.,” she revealed in the 2024 interview, explaining her avoidance was to sidestep hurtful comments like ‘Look at her, she’s huge!’ By omitting public appearances, she sought to eliminate the potential for negativity.

On top of that, Kelly experienced gestational diabetes during her pregnancy—a condition that arises due to hormonal shifts and elevates insulin demand during pregnancy.

Debunking Weight Loss Myths and Challenges

In September 2023, while talking to Vanderpump Rules‘ Scheana Shay on the Scheananigans with Scheana Shay podcast, Kelly touched on her gestational diabetes and how it pushed her to lose significant weight after childbirth.

“They diagnosed me with gestational diabetes because I was gaining so much weight, despite not having an excessive diet,” she explained. The hormone from the placenta can disrupt how the body processes sugar, causing wild fluctuations—gaining or losing weight drastically. Kelly experienced the gaining side.

With the aim to shed baby weight, she noted, “I was determined after giving birth to return to my previous size—but then I went beyond that point, and wish I hadn’t.”

Kelly Osbourne addressed the rumors about using Ozempic for weight loss in a 2024 talk with Extra, cotrresponding to widespread speculation. “I can clarify—No, I didn’t use Ozempic. I’m unsure from where this chatter originated.”

Despite walking back on claims, Kelly then shared her support for those utilizing the diabetes drug to aid in their weight loss journey, expressing it was a journey that ended up changing lives positively.

“Once I started hearing success stories from those on Ozempic, my perspective shifted,” she explained on The Osbournes Podcast in April 2024. “There’s value in medications that assist with weight loss, so it shouldn’t be frowned upon.”

During an interview with Extra, Kelly shared her journey of experimenting with non-surgical body sculpting methods after welcoming Sidney.

“After having a baby, I was left with so many stretch marks. They really took a toll on my skin quality,” she disclosed while mentioning the skin-tightening procedures like EMFACE and EMSCULPT that focus on muscle toning while reducing unwanted fat.

In May 2025, Kelly laid bare her experiences on well-being during a wellness summit titled The Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit.

“I don’t know of a single article about me that hasn’t sparked commentary on my size,” she shared. “I’ve battled substance abuse, alcohol addiction, and more… Yet the largest wave of criticism was due to my weight—it’s outrageous.”

She remembers being told she was pretty but was encouraged to lose weight to complete the ‘perfect package.’

Her emphasis on tending to her mental well-being has played an essential role in her feats: “I’ve explored almost every fix regarding surgery, meds, diet, and fitness. Getting my mind in gear was critical for everything else to click into place.”

Controversy dawned upon Kelly in December 2025 when she confronted all the critics targeting her radical weight change after her father Ozzy’s passing.

She fiercely defended herself against those poking fun with comments about illness or appearances: “I’m doing my utmost to cope with my grief. All I have left is my family right now,” she replied, following up with a simple but firm, “So anyone out there, f— off.”

Her mother, Sharon Osbourne, stood by her side, stating, “She has a point; she lost her dad, and she can’t even eat right now.”
