Duchess Sophie: The Royal Style Star We Often Overlook – Check Out This Chic Winter Look!

Estimated read time 4 min read

Whenever we see the Princess of Wales at an event or on social media, her outfits seem to steal the spotlight. It’s no wonder people rush to mimic her looks, given her signature style which is all about elegance and timelessness.

However, there’s another royal fashionista deserving of some love — and that’s Duchess Sophie. Her style might not always get the same attention as Catherine’s, but it’s totally just as fabulous and often way more practical.

If I had to highlight a standout outfit from Sophie, it would absolutely be her rich chocolate brown sweater paired with a plush velvet skirt from last December. This stylish combo made an appearance during her visit to Disability Initiative’s resource center in Camberley, showcasing trends that are still relevant in 2025.

This season, chocolate brown and burgundy are having a major moment, making Sophie’s festive outfit even more appealing. The roll-neck design of her top along with the rib detailing loved by many is a must-have in every winter wardrobe.

Given my love for stylish tailoring, I can’t resist cozy yet chic pieces like these during winter. The rich brown of Sophie’s jumper pairs beautifully with her ruby-red velvet skirt, creating a warm and inviting vibe.

Velvet is truly making waves now, adding a hidden festive charisma to outfits. The subtle gleam of the skirt elevated her ensemble, perfect for warmer jewel tones like burgundy, deep navy, or forest green, which play so nicely with luxe fabrics.

What stands out to me the most about this outfit is how effortlessly you could recreate it. It’s ideal for anything from Christmas celebrations to after-holiday get-togethers and even into the rest of winter — the elegance of Sophie’s look really shines through.

Sophie accessorized her outfit with simple gold jewelry, making an elegant yet approachable statement during her visit. As the Patron of Disability Initiative since 2003, she fully engaged in activities there, supporting the adults involved with the charity through fun interactions like caroling and baking.

These happenings were designed specifically to uplift the well-being and quality of life for the campaign’s audiences. Even with a focus on a serious topic, her chic outfit didn’t detract from her purpose and benefitted her festive appearance.

She returned to the Camberley center for the Disability Initiative on December 18th, once again rocking a stylish red midi dress just like the one she showcased at Together at Christmas a few weeks prior.
