Exploring Jackson Hole: A Guide by Karelle Golda from Halfdays

Estimated read time 5 min read

The fashion and beauty scene is packed with wonderful personalities worldwide, each boasting fantastic travel recommendations. We’re taking a closer look at their favorite local spots to eat, shop, and unwind—treat this series as your go-to travel guide from the style setters.

Karelle Golda, who co-founded the women’s outdoor brand Halfdays alongside Olympic athlete Kiley McKinnon and entrepreneur Ariana Ferwerda, moved to Jackson Hole five years ago. This picturesque mountain locale quickly became a pivotal part of their brand’s evolution.

Golda reflects, “Jackson Hole isn’t just my home; it’s a key part of Halfdays’ story. We’ve skied here, enjoyed brainstorming over waffles, and recently launched a collection with the legendary Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. Exploring the bar’s history got me thinking about how rich the narrative of this town really is.”

This unique blend of ruggedness and rich local heritage makes Jackson Hole a breeding ground for Halfdays, which began by selling trendy ski gear and has gracefully expanded into an entire lifestyle brand. “From day one, we kept the dialogue open with our community,” Golda explains. “Women voiced their desire for stylish yet inclusive gear for hiking, traveling, and everyday use, not limited to just skiing. Their feedback drove our evolution.”

For Golda, the partnership between a place and a brand delves deeper than just visual appeal. It’s about core values. “Jackson embodies the grit of a true mountain town while coexisting beautifully with top-tier food, art, and culture,” she shares. “This balance reflects the essence of Halfdays, fusing performance with style seamlessly.”

Check out Golda’s top picks for a true Jackson Hole experience, where to find the best huckleberries, and the Pilates class that keeps her grounded.

What’s a must-try dish in Jackson Hole?

You absolutely have to try the huckleberries. These little gems grow wild around the Tetons and are a summer staple here—whether you’re enjoying a cone at Moo’s, grabbing Tram Jam at the farmers market, or spotting them while hiking.

Where’s the best breakfast spot?

For breakfast, Persephone Bakery is unbeatable. They open early at 7:00 a.m., and their breakfast burrito always hits the spot—though it’s tough to resist one of their pastries too!

How about lunch?

For lunch, I always go to Healthy Being. Their salad bowls and cold-pressed juices are so fresh and just what I need during a day full of adventures.

What’s your favorite coffee place?

Coffee aficionados must try Overview. Located right by the ski resort base, you can enjoy your latte while admiring the amazing mountain views from the gondola.

Best dinner spot?

For dinner, we love Glorietta. The ambiance is gorgeous, it’s always buzzing with energy, and the food is simply top-notch.

If you could plan a staycation, where would it be?

I’d choose The Wort Hotel. The rooms are filled with old Western charm, giving off a vintage saloon vibe and it’s super convenient to everything in town.

Any tourist attractions worth checking out in Jackson Hole?

The Jackson Hole Rodeo is a summer staple; it showcases cowboy culture and thrilling rides! After the event wraps up, folks usually head over to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar to keep the energy up till late.

Where do you shop in Jackson Hole? Any unique finds?

I have a few favorite spots I return to regularly! For high-end fashion, Habits by the Town Square and Rodeo at the mountain are my top picks. For vintage treasures, Womenfolk is unbeatable, featuring unique archival Ralph Lauren pieces you’ll rarely find elsewhere. And when I want something extra personal, Midnight Lunch is where I go.

Your top wellness destination in Jackson?

I always recommend Rolling Reformer Pilates to anyone asking about wellness here. Jess Grim, the owner, has a background in physical therapy, so the sessions are built for recovery as much as they are for fitness.

What’s your favorite day trip from Jackson Hole?

I love taking a day trip to Grand Teton National Park. In summer, I hike at Phelps Lake or go horseback riding. In winter, the backcountry skiing through the soft snowfall is a dream!
