Nicole Kidman is the latest Hollywood star to embrace life across the pond, making a move to Europe. This shift is something we’re seeing more often these days, with big names like Eva Longoria, Ellen DeGeneres, and Rosie O’Donnell already setting up shop in the European Union.
It seems that Portugal is on Kidman’s radar. According to reports from local outlet SIC Notícias, the 58-year-old actress has filed for residency in the country. What many fans might not be aware of is that Kidman and her husband, Keith Urban, have owned a place in Parque das Nações since 2023. However, they seem to be eyeing something even more luxurious with plans to join the elite CostaTerra Golf & Ocean Club estate.
According to Realtor.com, this exclusive area is also home to major celebs like Paris Hilton, George Clooney, and even Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Fans of royal gossip may recall that Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, encouraged the couple to consider the area after acquiring a stunning $4.7 million estate in the neighborhood, where Brooksbank acts as the marketing guru for the high-end properties.
As the head of the Alentejo Tourism Board, Jose Santos mentioned, “We see many figures from film, royalty, arts, design, and fashion visit us here. They cherish the privacy and tranquil settings that can’t be found anywhere else in Europe, especially in Alentejo.” This insight comes after Harry and Meghan spent time in the region during summer 2023.
Currently, while Kidman has taken the leap and applied for residency, Urban hasn’t quite caught up — but there’s no reason for concern about their relationship. A source shared with New York Post that Urban was unable to attend the appointment in Portugal due to his tour commitments in the US. Since applying requires the applicant to be physically present, he’s working to align his schedule to submit his application soon. Despite adding a pad in Portugal, their primary residence will still remain in Nashville.
This shift to Europe highlights a larger trend of celebrities leaving the U.S. due to political turmoil. DeGeneres mentioned during an event on July 20 that she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, decided to relocate after waking up to distressing news from home on election day. “When we got here just before the election and saw the texts with crying emojis, we’re like, ‘Okay, we’re staying here,’” she shared.
