  • The 46-year-old singer has eliminated gluten, dairy, sugar, and alcohol from his diet.
  • He regularly undergoes NAD drips and set up a gym in a trailer, a move inspired by Bruce Springsteen.
  • At his heaviest, he tipped the scales at 265 pounds and is now down to approximately 200 pounds.

Zac Brown is shaking things up in the health department with some unique strategies. Recently, he spilled the beans on his workout and eating habits that have contributed to significant body change.

In a chat with GQ, the frontman of the Zac Brown Band opened up about how ditching gluten, dairy, sugar, and alcohol has been integral to his progress. Since boosting his health, he’s now reading food labels like a detective.

He emphasized that his approach leans heavily on a paleo diet with plenty of vegetables, high-quality proteins, and natural foods, steering clear of processed options. “I focus on three meals a day spaced about four hours apart and even fast for 14 hours after my last meal,” he explained.

While Brown recognizes the need for discipline in maintaining this clean eating lifestyle, he admits it can be tough, especially with touring and recording underway.

Brown also highlighted that making poignant changes to his diet like saying goodbye to seed oils has made a noticeable difference in his overall well-being. “I only use avocado, olive, or coconut oils now. Everything else is typically laced with some kind of seed oil like canola or sunflower oil,” he mentioned.

Intriguingly, perceptions around seed oils causing health issues are more complicated than straightforward bans. Experts suggest that factors like ultra-processed foods, sugars, and refined flours deserve more scrutiny. Cardiologist Dariush Mozaffarian pointed out: “There are worse things to worry about than seed oils in your diet. It’s full-on processed foods that are detrimental.”

Turning to regular check-ups, Brown sees a regenerative medicine specialist monthly for blood work and other treatments. “I’ve been experimenting with stem cell therapy and peptides. I’m on a routine of getting monthly IVs with exosomes and NAD to keep me on top of my game alongside my vitamins and supplements,” he shared.

NAD, which helps generate energy and repair cells, has surged in popularity in wellness circles as we age and natural production drops, leading to a demand for NAD+ boosters.

As for keeping fit, Zac has innovatively outfitted a trailer with a dance-worthy gym to initiate workouts on tour inspired by a friendly tip from music legend Bruce Springsteen. He described, ‘Bruce told me to work up a sweat every day, no matter where I am. It transforms your routine.’ That truly left a mark, as he’s committed to showering in sweat for at least one hour daily.

Brown shared that he enjoys leveling up the mundanity of cardio by jamming out to games like ‘Madden’ or ‘Fortnite’ while on the Arc Trainer. “This tricks my brain into thinking I’m just playing games, and it doesn’t feel like a grind,” stated Brown—a clever spin on cardio workouts!

Remembering his journey, he noted, “I’ve shed over 60 pounds. I’m hovering just below 200 now. I was once a hefty 265, feeling pretty massive back then.” A representative for Zac Brown did not respond to media inquiries promptly.
