Chicago Police Say Shootings Reach 4-Year Low Through The End Of June So far this year, 1,229 people have been shot in Chicago, about 100 fewer than the first six months of 2018, and the lowest total since 2015. Police also said there have been 236 murders through the end of June, 21 fewer than the same time period last year. During the violence over the weekend, 17-year-old Jarise Baker was shot and killed early Saturday in the North Lawndale neighborhood. Baker was walking his girlfriend home around 12:30 a.m. near 18th and Keeler, when someone in a passing car shot them both. Baker was shot in the chest and upper body, and died at Mount Sinai Hospital.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A basketball game at an East Mount Airy rec center may have sparked a shooting. Philadelphia police say two men were playing basketball at the Dorothy Emanuel Recreation Center at 8500 Pickering Avenue when shots were fired around 6:35 p.m. Monday.

After the game, one of the men walked onto the court carrying a camouflage backpack covered with a white towel. Police say the second man ran away after he saw the man had a gun.

That’s when police say, the second man came back with his own gun and started shooting at the other man.

2 Teens Killed, 2 Others Injured In Shooting At Old East Dallas Community Center Two 17-year-olds are dead and two others are seriously injured after a shooting in front of a community center in Old East Dallas late Sunday evening, police say. Police responded to the 3500 block of Munger Avenue just after 11:15 p.m. and found four teenagers with gunshot wounds in front of the Roseland Community Center. The four victims were transported to the hospital, where two of them were pronounced dead. Police identified the victims who died as Gregory Horton III and Zacchaeus Banks, both 17 years old.

Police say both men should be considered armed and dangerous.
