Supporters of President Donald Trump couldn’t contain their excitement over Ghislaine Maxwell’s remarks made during her interviews with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. After the Department of Justice published the transcripts on Friday, social media platforms exploded with comments highlighting sections where Maxwell claims she never witnessed Trump engaging in any questionable sexual behavior.

Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in aiding Jeffrey Epstein in abusing minors, has hinted at an appeal for a presidential pardon from Trump.

Newsweek reached out to Maxwell’s lawyer via email for a response outside of normal business hours.

Significance of the Situation

The recent release of the transcripts adds fuel to the fire as Trump faces heightened scrutiny over his past interactions with Epstein. He has consistently stated that he parted ways with Epstein long before the latter was under investigation.

The saga of Epstein has loomed large over the administration, particularly after a memo issued by the Justice Department and FBI in July declared Epstein’s death a suicide, contradicting myriad conspiracy theories. Furthermore, the memo clarified that a rumored “client list” supposedly on Attorney General Pam Bondi’s desk did not exist, creating unrest among Trump’s followers who believe this implies a conspiracy to shield Epstein’s influential associates. Epstein tragically died in custody while awaiting trial for sex trafficking in 2019.

Key Details to Note

In her transcript, Maxwell stated clearly that she “never saw the President in any kind of massage setting.” Her observations extended to state: “I never witnessed the President being inappropriate at any point in time. He always acted as a gentleman around me.” When questioned about any comments from Epstein or others concerning Trump’s alleged wrongdoing, Maxwell responded: “Absolutely not, in any context.”

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia declared that Maxwell’s remarks provided a form of “vindication” for Trump. She took to X, asserting that if there had been any incriminating evidence regarding Trump within Epstein’s documents, the Democrats would have exploited it long ago.

Turning to a sympathetic angle, Trump loyalist and conservative activist Laura Loomer shared her hope that the release of these transcripts will silence the “nasty, salacious lies” circulating about Trump online. She believes Maxwell’s assertions validate Trump’s character as an “honorable person.” Newsweek has attempted to contact Loomer for additional comments.

Various MAGA influencers also leaned into Maxwell’s testimony, viewing it as a clearance for the president. Notably, influencer Rogan O’Handley (known as “D.C Draino”) suggested that if Trump were ever truly involved with Epstein, such information would have already been leaked.

On the flip side, Democrats are trying to discredit Maxwell’s statements, citing her criminal background and suggesting that her testimony stems from a self-serving desire for clemency.

Representative Robert Garcia, who plays a leading role in the House Oversight Committee, labeled Maxwell as “a convicted sex trafficker and known liar,” arguing her interview reflects desperation for a pardon.

People’s Perspectives

Greenevoiced her thoughts on X: “Ghislaine Maxwell acclaims President Trump was never inappropriate with anyone and consistently showed gentlemanly behavior!”

“Repeatedly, the Democrats have attempted to imprison Trump, tarnish his businesses, and assassinate his character. If any evidence was found against him in the Epstein segments, the Democrats would have already utilized it. Once again, President Trump emerges as vindicated!”

Loomer expressed with Politico: “I’m optimistic that these transcripts will silence rampant rumors made by devious individuals looking to exploit Pam Bondi’s missteps to put down President Trump.”

D.C Draino posted on X: “Had Trump been an Epstein client, information about that would have certainly leaked. He is innocent. It’s time to release the Epstein Files and apprehend those truly guilty.”

Garcia also shared on X: “Ghislaine Maxwell is a known liar and convicted sex trafficker. Her interview with Trump’s DOJ attorney signifies her desperation for a pardon. She insidiously denies any wrongdoing, which belittles the young women and girls she exploited. She has zero credibility.”

Democrat Representative Yassamin Ansari took to X stating: “GHISLAINE MAXWELL IS A CONVICTED CHILD SEX TRAFFICKER AIMING FOR A PARDON FROM THE MOST CORRUPT PRESIDENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY, WHO IS ALSO A CONVICTED CRIMINAL.”

What Comes Next

On Friday, the Department of Justice began redirecting relevant records from the investigation to the House Oversight Committee—intended for eventual public access minus any victim-related information.

Maxwell is appealing her conviction before the Supreme Court, with a decision about her case likely coming this September.
