Bob Myers defends Kevin Durant, accepts blame for injury An emotional Bob Myers spoke after Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night and defended Kevin Durant as a person while saying he would accept any blame for the superstar’s Achilles injury. The Golden State Warriors' president spoke to the media with a shaky voice and shared why Durant was cleared for the game. “He was cleared to play tonight. That was a collaborative decision. I don’t believe there’s anybody to blame, but I understand this world. If you have to, you can blame me. I run our basketball operations department,” Myers said. Durant took some criticism for not playing previously during the Finals.

Kevin Durant's mother, Wanda, made an appearance on Good Morning America on Wednesday to discuss her son's apparent Achilles injury which the superstar forward suffered in the second quarter of the Warriors' Game 5 win over the Raptors, his mental state and what went into the decision for Durant to return to the lineup for Game 5.

Wanda said that her son was having a "rough time right now" both emotionally and physically and added that the two-time Finals MVP reassured her that everything was going to be okay immediately after he went down. Durant also commented on how "hurtful" it was that the Raptors fans cheered after such a horrific injury but said that "all is forgiven."

Kevin Durant reportedly views opting into Warriors contract as ‘last resort’

Kevin Durant reportedly views opting into Warriors contract as ‘last resort’ Kevin Durant’s summer got a lot more interesting when he suffered what is believed to be a torn Achilles during Game 5 of the NBA Finals, and the injury could impact the amount of money teams are willing to invest in him. However, he may not be in nearly as much contract trouble as some people believe. Prior to the injury, it was a foregone conclusion that Durant would opt out of the final year of his deal with the Golden State Warriors.

In regards to whether or not her son's return was rushed, Wanda said, "he felt that he was able to play." She added that she trusted his judgment given her son's injury history, adding that she didn't think he would have done anything he thought could jeopardize his health.

Mama Durant's GMA spot came just hours before the results of her son's MRI are set to be announced. Durant is set to become a free agent this summer. Discussions of his decision to play and the future of his free agency following the injury began as soon as he left the court. Wanda took to Twitter on Tuesday morning in response, posting a photo of her alongside her son captioned with a poignant message.

Steve Kerr denies that Kevin Durant is unhappy with Warriors’ doctors.
Kevin Durant has yet to comment publicly about whether he feels he was misled by the Golden State Warriors’ medical staff, but head coach Steve Kerr says he has no reason to believe that is the case. NBA reporter Ric Bucher said this week that Durant is still unsure if he was misled about being able to suffer a more significant injury by playing before his calf was 100 percent healed. In an appearance on Tim Kawakami’s “The TK Show” podcast Wednesday, Kerr said he has not gotten that impression and noted that Durant’s own specialist also cleared him to play.
