Rams trade Aqib Talib and fifth-round pick to Dolphins

Rams trade Aqib Talib and fifth-round pick to Dolphins One has to wonder how this trade benefits Miami long term. Talib is playing out the final year of his current deal, and the Dolphins are tanking this season. Do they really believe he’s worth keeping around past the 2019 season?Related slideshow: The biggest in-season NFL trades of all time (Provided by Yardbarker) 1/30 SLIDES © Ron Chenoy / USA Today Sports Images 2019: Broncos trade WR Emmanuel Sanders to 49ers Sanders had quite a six-year run with the Broncos, winning one Super Bowl and making two Pro Bowls.

Multiple teams in search of catching help believe Contreras will be available this winter, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, who reports the Cubs will get creative this winter and could trade the 27-year-old All-Star as they begin to retool under new manager David Ross.

The Contreras trade rumor comes a month after Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein wouldn't rule out dealing one of the catcher's teammates in Kris Bryant or Javier Baez with the organization "at a transition point."

Asking price for Darius Slay 'incredibly high' before trade deadline

That deal saw Los Angeles send two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Lions apparently want something close to that.

Multiple teams in search of catching help believe Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will be available this winter. The Cubs will get creative this Being available in trade talks doesn't mean Contreras will be dealt, and Passan's report didn't definitively say the 27-year-old backstop is available .

In a perfect scenario, Contreras wouldn't be available . He should be part of a dynastic core alongside Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, and Kris Bryant (who has also popped up in The Cubs are still looking to compete, too, so any return on Contreras would need to involve MLB-ready players and prospects.

Since winning the World Series in 2016, the Cubs haven't been able to advance past the National League Championship Series and they missed the playoffs last season.

Additionally, Joe Maddon recently departed as the team's manager, its payroll is nearing $200 million, and the farm system is bare.

Dealing Contreras, who posted a .888 OPS with 24 home runs in 105 games last season and isn't eligible for free agency until 2023, could net the Cubs a large stockpile of prospects and possibly prevent them from dealing one of Bryant or Baez.

Since 2017, Contreras has been one of MLB's top offensive catchers, ranking fourth in homers (55), fifth in RBIs (192), and tied for second in wRC+ (115), according to FanGraphs.

Contreras is also eligible for arbitration for the first time in 2020 and is projected to only make $4.5 million.

Zack Wheeler vs. Madison Bumgarner vs. Hyun-Jin Ryu: Who is the best option? .
Former Met Zack Wheeler, longtime Giant Madison Bumgarner and ex-Dodger Hyun-Jin Ryu make up the remainder of the top five free-agent starters after Cole and Strasburg. Going by projected earning power, Wheeler is easily the most desirable of the trio. We’ve got him signing for $100M over a half-decade, Bumgarner putting pen to paper on a four-year, $72M accord and Ryu getting a three-year, $54M contract. But you’re well within your rights to want Bumgarner or Ryu over Wheeler. Let’s take a closer look at the touted troika.
