Taylor Swift fans had a big night as her highly-anticipated 12th album, “The Life of a Showgirl,”, hit the airwaves at midnight Friday.
While touring Europe on her record-breaking Eras Tour, Swift poured her creative energy into writing and producing this new album alongside Swedish hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback.
In a heartfelt Instagram post shortly after the album’s release, Swift expressed her excitement: “I can’t tell you how proud I am to share this with you, an album that just feels so right. A forever thank you goes out to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for helping me paint this self-portrait. If you thought the big show was wild, perhaps you should come and take a look behind the curtain…The Life of a Showgirl is out now.” View post
She initially announced the album, packed with 12 tracks, back in August during an episode of “New Heights”. This podcast is hosted by her fiancé, Travis Kelce, who’s a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, alongside his brother, Jason Kelce, a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles.
This project marks the first time the creative trio has collaborated exclusively on an entire album. The trio has a history of hits, including favorites like “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Blank Space,” and “Shake It Off.” Speaking about their collaboration, Swift noted, “We knew that we had to bring the best ideas we’ve ever had.”
To celebrate the release, fans can catch a nearly 90-minute special titled “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,” playing in AMC Theatres from Friday to Sunday. This show will feature a music video premiere for the album’s lead track, “The Fate of Ophelia,” along with behind-the-scenes clips from the music video shoot, anecdotes for each song, and lyric videos, according to Swift.
“Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan,” she announced on social media. “Dancing is optional but very much encouraged.” Check the announcement
Additionally, Swift’s latest album smashed records to become the most pre-saved album ever on Spotify, according to data released by the platform on September 1. The previous record-holder was Swift’s 11th album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which launched back in April 2024.
