Brown University’s President, Christina Paxson, reported that all the victims are believed to be students, although it’s unclear about the latest victim.

Students Describe the Scene

Emma Ferraro, a student majoring in chemical engineering, recounted her experience while working on a project in the Barus & Holley lobby. She heard what she first thought were loud pops and, after realizing they were gunshots, quickly made her way to a safer location.

Ferraro texts that she is on edge about updates on the situation and describes hearing helicopters and emergency vehicles in the vicinity.

Suspect’s Description and Capture Attempts

The suspect was last seen leaving the engineering building wearing black attire. The police initially detained someone presumed to be linked to the incident but later cleared him of any involvement, according to Mayor Smiley.
