Sheriff: 15-Year-Old Boy Arrested In Death Of 19-Year-Old Cass Lake Man
Officials in Cass County say a 15-year-old has been taken into custody in connection to the death of a 19-year-old man in Cass Lake. © Provided by CBS Local, a division of CBS Radio Inc According to Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch, deputies responded to an emergency call Monday at 5:53 p.m. at a residence in Cass Lake. Upon arrival, a deceased man was found at the residence. An investigation was then initiated with assistance from the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The victim was identified Thursday as Brandon Morgan Jr.

A 65-year-old American man who rigged his home with a booby trap to keep out intruders has been killed by the device. Ronald Cyr called police in the town of Van Buren in the state of Maine to say It is illegal to set up devices in your home to protect it from intruders, if those devices can cause harm.

Van Buren police said they were called to Ronald Cyr’s home onin the early evening after he called 911 to report he had been shot.
“Regretfully, Mr. Cyr succumbed to the injuries he sustained from the gunshot,” police said in a news release.
Police said officers on the scene then found the front door had been booby-trapped with a device designed to fire a handgun should anyone attempt to enter through the door.
Other unknown devices were also discovered, causing alarmed investigators to contact the Maine State Police Bomb Squad, police said.
After an extensive investigation, it was determined Cyr has been shot as the result of the unintentional discharge of one of his homemade devices, they said.

After no response, the troopers entered the residence through an open door and announced their presence again in attempts to get a response from anyone in the residence. A gunshot was fired at the troopers and one of them was struck,” a statement from PSP says.
