President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his team have just released shocking details about an overnight assault from Russia that has reached a new level of brutality, orchestrated by President Vladimir Putin himself. This latest round of attacks has hit countless civilians across Ukraine.
Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that drone and missile strikes were carried out on five different regions, specifically aimed at crucial energy facilities and ports. The result? Over a million people are now left completely in the dark, without any electricity.
Odesa, the picturesque Black Sea city, faced some of the harshest impacts during these attacks. Grain silos at the local port were seen ablaze, with Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba confirming the severe damage caused.

According to the head of the Odesa region, Oleh Kiper, the attacks have resulted in injuries, with two individuals reported wounded in the Odesa vicinity.
On the morning of December 13, 2025, Zelenskyy stated that Russian forces unleashed over 450 drones and 30 missiles in their assault.
Minister Klymenko added that the regions impacted include Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Chernihiv. Meanwhile, Russia’s defense ministry claimed involvement of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, notorious for their challenging tracking capabilities due to their ability to zigzag in flight.
The timing of these lethal attacks coincides with U.S. President Trump’s aforementioned attempts to call for a ceasefire in a conflict that is nearing its four-year mark, to no one’s surprise.
High-profile discussions are set for December 14, 2025, where Zelenskyy will meet with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of Donald Trump, right in Berlin. U.S. officials are gearing up to engage with leaders from Germany, France, and the UK to hash out a collaborative peace plan for Ukraine.
High-Level Talks in Berlin About Peace Strategy for Ukraine
President Zelenskyy expressed on Saturday night that allies from the Trump administration will also join the upcoming discussions.
“I’ll be meeting with President Trump’s representatives, alongside our European partners and other leaders, to form a foundation for lasting peace and a political agreement to conclusively end this war,” he noted.
He added, “The opportunity is enormous right now… We’re committed to ensuring that Ukraine experiences a just peace, guaranteeing primarily that Russia won’t stage a third invasion on our soil.”
Despite this, the updated 20-point peace plan aimed at resolving Russia’s incursions into Ukraine has triggered concerns within Zelenskyy’s camp, especially on the subject of potentially yielding territory.
Of significant worry is the prospect of Ukraine possibly conceding control over the Donbas region (spanning Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts) to Russia, which presently occupies approximately 86% of the area. The draft suggests Ukrainian armed forces pull back from the remaining sections held by Ukraine, potentially swapping full Russian annexation for the creation of a “free economic zone” under joint governance.
Meanwhile, it’s outlined that Russia would hold onto operational jurisdiction over half of the electrical output from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, which they continue to control.
Amid all this, President Zelenskyy remains resolute, stating firmly that he won’t compromise on any Ukrainian land to Putin.
