Alyssa Farah Griffin Faces Backlash Over Trump Comments on “The View”

Estimated read time 3 min read

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who used to be a key aide for Donald Trump and is now a co-host of The View, has found herself in hot water due to her past comments about MAGA supporters.

She had notably stated that she would wear a “Make America Great Again” hat on the show if Trump managed to facilitate the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Newsweek reached out to Griffin’s representatives via email for a response on the matter on Tuesday.

Why This Is Important

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas erupted over two years ago, specifically on October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants attacked Israel, resulting in the deaths of around 1,200 individuals and the capture of 251 hostages. According to the Associated Press, nearly 11% of the population in Gaza has been either killed or injured since the start of the war.

During her time at the White House, Griffin served as the Communications Director under Trump, as well as Press Secretary for Vice President Mike Pence and the Department of Defense. The television host recently announced that she is expecting her first child with her husband, Justin Griffin, due in February. Since parting ways with her former boss, she’s made both positive and negative remarks about him; from appreciating his proposal for a $5,000 baby bonus to calling him “completely unfit for office” in the past.

Donald Trump addresses senior military leaders on September 30, 2025, at Quantico, Virginia. Alyssa Farah Griffin is seen here at the 2024 Disney Upfront event at the Javits Center in New York City on May 14, 2024.

What You Should Know

On Monday, Trump finalized a peace declaration leading to the release of all 20 surviving Israeli hostages from Gaza.

During an episode of The View on October 13, Griffin acknowledged the significance of the peace agreement, emphasizing that whether one likes Trump or not, credit should go to him, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner for this success.

“If this peace deal remains solid—which I truly hope it does—it marks a historic and significant diplomatic victory, allowing the world to finally breathe easier,” the 36-year-old stated.

Griffin also posted a video of her comments on social media, captioning it with, “Reflecting on the peace deal between Israel and Hamas. The President and his team truly deserve recognition for this remarkable diplomatic success, the release of the hostages, and bringing an end to the violence. Let’s pray this peace lasts.”

Back in January, she publicly remarked on The View that if Trump were able to “bring the Israeli hostages home, I promise I will don a MAGA hat for a day and give him credit for it.” She added, “It’s vital to rejoice in accomplishments while also holding accountable those who do wrong.”
