Over the past eight months, President Donald Trump has been busy transforming the White House to suit his personal taste. Among his projects are a reimagined Oval Office, a paved Rose Garden, the addition of towering flag poles, and even the plans for a massive ballroom.
Just recently, he unveiled the newly renovated Palm Room, and the changes are striking. Trump took to his Truth Social account to share images from the renovation, showcasing a switch from soft gray tiles to a gleaming white marble floor, accompanied by lavish chandeliers replacing more simple light fixtures.
He bragged, “New lobby leading to Oval Office — Magnificent marble floor, compliments of President Donald J. Trump!” He mentioned that he is funding these upgrades with his personal resources as well as contributions from supporters.
Interestingly, the bench and plants that used to be staples of the Palm Room were noticeably missing during the reveal. It remains uncertain whether they have been removed permanently or if they just haven’t been repositioned yet following the floor renovation.
Trump’s tendency to remove greenery from the White House decor has been apparent. Earlier this summer, the grass in the Rose Garden was replaced with pavement to prevent visitors from getting stuck in the mud. He also removed a beloved ivy plant from the Oval Office, swapping it out for an ever-increasing display of trophies and artwork.
The Palm Room, typically a bright, airy area reminiscent of a greenhouse, is situated between the president’s residence and the West Wing, where he and his closest advisors work.
