Elon Musk’s Bold Take on Trump’s Political Future

Estimated read time 3 min read

Elon Musk unintentionally ignited a buzz in the political sphere when he shared some audacious predictions regarding the trajectory of U.S. politics for the next ten years.

During a virtual event with DOGE members at the end of October, Musk claimed that America is about to embark on a significant 12-year period. He outlined an interesting scenario where, after Donald Trump completes his anticipated second term in 2028, the role of President would transition directly to his vice president, J.D. Vance, serving for two consecutive terms right up to 2037.

J.D. Vance is currently the top contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2028. Even Secretary of State Marco Rubio has noted privately that “Vance is likely the frontrunner.” However, a tightening race has surfaced, with Donald Trump Jr. making notable gains against Vance, who once held a comfortable 20-point advantage in the polls.

Yet, the biggest kicker still comes from Trump himself.

Despite the restrictions of the 22nd Amendment, Trump hasn’t shied away from hinting at the possibility of attempting a third term. Just last month, he told reporters, “I would love to do it.”

He added, “Am I ruling it out? You’ll have to see. All I can say is that we have a remarkable team, unlike them.”

Political commentators are divided on this topic; some view the discussion as mere tactics. Author Jonathan Karl, who has penned numerous works about Trump, speculated that both Trump and his former advisor Steve Bannon are just stirring the waters without any serious intent.

Speaking on MS Now’s Morning Joe during Thanksgiving, Jonathan expressed his thoughts, saying, “I believe that Trump frequently brings up 2028 as part of a spectacle—showing off his supporting gear… it absolutely reeks of trolling.”

Furthermore, he suggested Bannon has ulterior motives, insisting, “Bannon igniting this subject is meant not only to provoke Trump’s critics and Democrats, but also to poke fun at J.D. Vance, someone Bannon isn’t a fan of behind the scenes.”

In the meantime, Vance has been diligent about keeping his attention on the present responsibilities he holds.

As reported earlier by OK!, Vice President Vance was featured on Fox News with Sean Hannity on November 14, where he was asked about his thoughts regarding the possibility of a 2028 run.

“Just two days post-midterm elections, we slip into a cycle regarding 2028. Surely, it must emerge on your radar—living in the Oval Office daily,” Sean prompted. “Are you even considering it?”

Vance admitted he’s listening to the ideas but made it clear that he’s focusing on a chat with the president.

“Our goal is to win the midterms, and afterward, I’ll discuss it directly with the president of the United States,” he said.

Nevertheless, Vance reiterated that his priority remains the role he was elected to play.

“I’ve pondered how it would unfold post-midterms, absolutely. When I do, though, I fight to push it away and remember the American people elected me to fulfill an important role right now, and that’s my focus,” Vance explained.

“Getting distracted by what lies ahead can make you less effective in your current job. We remain intensely focused on the midterm elections, as what the president has kick-started marks a significant economic revitalization effort for our nation,” he concluded.
