Kerry Kennedy has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to a star from South Park for purchasing a domain name related to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts, where Donald Trump’s name has recently been added.

Toby Morton, known for his work on the show and for voicing Scott Tenorman, acquired the domain names trumpkennedycenter.org and trumpkennedycenter.com on August 12—before the official announcement about Trump’s involvement became public.

Now, the center’s leadership has revealed that its name has officially changed to The Donald Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts, and the signage reflecting this update has been installed.

Morton has initiated a parody website at the .org domain, which will have its full launch in January 2024. He shared on his Threads account @wordclown that there will be significant developments to come.

On December 28, Morton shared that he received a message from Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, sister of Robert Kennedy Jr., and the niece of John F. Kennedy. In her message, she stated:

“I run the Robert and Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center. Currently, we have over 27 lawsuits against the Trump administration. Part of our mission is to honor my father’s legacy while promoting justice and a peaceful world. I can’t express how thrilled I was when I learned that you purchased the Trump Kennedy Center domain. Your efforts to highlight this issue are both unique and impactful. I just want to say thank you.”

Sharing a screenshot of her message on Threads, Morton wrote, “I’m speechless and incredibly grateful. Thanks, @kerrykennedyrfk.”

The announcement to rename the Kennedy Center was made by the Trump-appointed board in December. Morton expressed to The Washington Post that he anticipated this name change when Trump began reorganizing the Kennedy Center’s board earlier in the year.

Planning to update the websites, Morton shared that they aim to reflect the peculiar nature of the current situation, having already foresaw the name placement of Trump.

<previsiting this matter, on december 18, kerry kennedy commented the center's name change in her threads post, expressing discontent:

“For the past year, President Trump and his supporters have suppressed free expression, targeting artists and journalists and erasing vital historical figures whose contributions uplifted our society. President Kennedy symbolized justice, peace, and compassion—values that Trump openly contradicts. His name should not be associated with President Kennedy’s legacy.”

She further showcased an image of the newly updated sign featuring Trump’s name and humorously remarked about plans to remove it in three years, asking for assistance and quipping, “I’m applying for my carpenter’s card for the job!”

Donald Trump faces renaming ban under new bill
Workers adjust the lettering on the building of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC on December 19, 2025.

Following the name change vote, various lawmakers have proposed legislation intended to reverse the name adjustments and prevent similar moves in the future.

Senator Bernie Sanders announced plans to introduce a bill that would stop federal buildings from being named after currently sitting presidents, while Congresswoman April McClain proposed the Kennedy Center Protection Act to invalid that office’s vote and require the removal of Trump’s name.

In response, Trump claimed to feel “honored” by the board’s decision, stating, “We really revived this building, which was in dire need of restoration in every sense, and now it stands solid and strong.”

A White House spokesperson praised the collaboration, asserting, “Congratulations to both President Trump and President Kennedy, as this partnership will enhance the legacy of this center in the years to come.”

The Newsweek has reached out to Toby Morton, Kerry Kennedy, and the White House for further comments regarding this development.
