(NewsNation) — Kentucky is making headlines as around 2,000 driver’s licenses are now considered invalid due to serious fraud allegations connected to migrant applicants.

This shocking news was revealed by Governor Andy Beshear, who stated that a total of 1,985 licenses have been revoked after officials conducted thorough reviews of credential applications.

Beshear emphasized that these revoked licenses would pose a problem; they wouldn’t be accepted at airports and would undoubtedly raise flags during traffic stops. “These credentials, if they were to be used, would not function at an airport and would cause issues if brought up during a police encounter,” he clarified during a recent press briefing, as reported by Lex 18.

Part of this troubling investigation involves claims that certain licenses were issued to migrants lacking the required documentation. Beshear remarked, “That’s an essential component of the ongoing criminal investigation. Many individuals might pursue a fake ID for various reasons.”

Moreover, the governor reassured the public that, to date, all individuals implicated in this matter were hired via a temporary agency and have since been let go. “We need to respect the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Kentucky State Police,” he urged.
