President Trump took decisive action on Thursday by signing several executive orders and memorandums. Among these was a noteworthy order that allows TikTok to keep operating within the United States.
According to Vice President Vance, TikTok will be managed by a group of American investors, and the company is estimated to be worth around $14 billion.
In addition, Trump signed a memorandum that implements the death penalty in Washington, D.C., alongside another order addressing domestic terrorism and political violence, following a previous declaration that categorized antifa as a domestic terrorist organization.
With a potential government shutdown looming, Trump heightened tensions on Capitol Hill. The White House budget office instructed federal agencies to prepare for significant layoffs rather than the usual furloughs if an agreement on short-term funding isn’t reached with the Democrats.
“All of this is the Dems’ fault,” he remarked ahead of a midday meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the White House, stating their requests were entirely unreasonable.
Amid these developments, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has called key generals to Virginia for a secretive meeting next week, raising eyebrows and concerns within the Pentagon. However, the White House later sought to downplay the meeting amidst the uncertainty.
Later on Thursday evening, Trump is expected to meet the prime minister of Pakistan.
