Ukrainian Forces Report Russian Troops Surrendering in Kupiansk Amid Supply Issues

In the city of Kupiansk, located in the Kharkiv region, operations continue as Ukrainian forces push back against Russian troops who are currently cut off from their supply lines. Viktor Trehubov, the head of communications for the Joint Forces Grouping, reported that the situation has led to several Russian soldiers starting to surrender.

Roughly 50 Russian soldiers are still holed up in the city, with some even surrendering. Trehubov emphasized that instances of foreign mercenaries also laying down their arms have been documented. The logistics for these troops have been severely restricted, relying mainly on airborne supplies—definitely not a sustainable way to keep up a military presence.

“They’re beginning to surrender—there are even reports of foreigners giving up. These are mercenaries working alongside the Russians. The Russian units that infiltrated Kupiansk and tried to secure northern positions have faced a significant defeat and won’t be able to regroup,” Trehubov stated.

Current Situation in Kupiansk

Although Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, have been propagating false information about capturing Kupiansk, Ukrainian forces report a different story. Recent weeks have seen Russian propaganda text mixed with fabricated visuals, like drones dropping flags over Kupiansk, supposedly to bolster their claims.

Despite what they say, reports indicate that Ukrainian troops are successfully executing operations even within city limits. The enemy now seems to only maintain control over the northern region of Kupiansk.

Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned an intriguing detail regarding the situation: a Russian general who allegedly informed Putin about capturing Kupiansk has recently gone missing in Russia.
