We’re almost there—less than a month until the 2025 College football season gets underway! While teams are hitting the practice fields hard, some major changes in the college football scene just rolled in from The White House. On July 24, 2025, President Donald Trump officially signed an executive order d ‘Saving College Sports.’
So, what’s in this executive order? Well, one significant aspect is the focus on safeguarding scholarships and maintaining opportunities, especially for women’s sports and those that don’t always generate revenue. The order also looks to put a stop to any ‘pay-for-play’ deals that involve outside parties paying athletes for their performance, which is a shift from the recognized Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) agreements.
Mike Gittens, co-founder of The War Rapport, takes a deep dive into the potential ramifications of this cliffhanger-like situation in the ‘wild west’ that is college sports these days.
Of course, while all this happens off the field, there are actual games to hit the turf soon. The Auburn Tigers are set to kick off their season on the road in Big XII territory, where they’ll face off against the Baylor Bears. Mike shares what the Baylor team needs to do to get off to a strong start this season.
