Amazing news in the dash cam world! You might not usually get hyped about a new camera for your dashboard, but this one from Baseus is something else. Known for their power banks and headphones, Baseus has now ventured into the dash cam scene with a model that boasts solar-powered parking monitoring!
Traditionally, keeping your dash cam running while your car is parked meant tedious installation of a hardwire kit connected to your vehicle’s battery. This can be a real chore and requires a certain level of expertise about your car’s electrical systems that many DIY enthusiasts might lack.
The new PrimeTrip VD1 Pro dash cam turns things around. It features a high-efficiency solar panel alongside an integrated lithium battery, enabling it to produce and handle its own power. Despite its compact solar panel, Baseus promises an impressive 14 days of parking standby. Thanks to its energy-efficient parking mode, the camera automatically wakes and records 30-second clips from both the front and rear cameras whenever motion or an impact is detected, allowing for up to 20 recorded incidents (which means 40 clips in total).
This dynamic duo features a front-facing dash cam that shoots in 4K and boasts a generous 170-degree field of view. It’s powered by Sony’s IMX335 STARVIS sensor, especially designed for surveillance and security, providing real-time HDR processing to minimize noise issues, even in tough lighting. Meanwhile, the rear camera records in Full HD (1080p) and has a 120-degree field of view. Users can easily tweak their settings and review or download clips through the Baseus mobile app using a 5GHz Wi-Fi 6 connection.
