A popular content creator caught a lot of eyes online after he dropped a video showcasing his ride in one of Tesla’s self-driving taxis over in San Francisco. This ride was all about the making of the future, and if reports from NDTV are anything to go by, it certainly had its moments!

To kick things off, Ishan Sharma, the influencer, announced, “Today I’m testing out Elon Musk’s robotaxi right here in California” as he opened his video, which he shared with more than 200,000 followers on X.

Sharma managed to get a ride through an app, and when the Tesla arrived, there was a human sitting in the driver’s seat, ensuring everything followed local safety rules. This is a shift from the service’s initial experience in Austin, Texas, where a friend would just chill in the passenger seat for backup support. For his quick five-minute trip, Sharma mentioned he forked out just $4.50.

Sharma was pretty optimistic about his experience, proclaiming in his video, “This is the future of taxis!” He emphasized that he was all in on this new tech. And, of course, viewers were buzzing, with comments like one from a follower stating, “Future really pulled up to the curb.” A moment of affirmation, for sure!

Not too far in San Francisco, another company called Waymo, known for being the top dog in self-driving ride-hailing, has been offering fully autonomous rides in the forward-thinking city since June 2024. Unlike Tesla, Waymo gives rides without needing that human safety driver. Hence, their rides are as autonomous as it gets. They even tout over ten million rides in multiple cities by now!

There’s also Zoox, an Amazon company, which is testing its tech in the Bay Area with more tests happening in Las Vegas.

The cool part about all of this? No matter whether you’re hitching a ride with Tesla, Waymo, or Zoox, you’re taking a step toward helping the environment. Each company runs fleets of electric vehicles—much kinder to our ozone compared to your old gas guzzlers.

If you’re looking to save some cash on bills and contribute to Mother Earth, think about switching to an electric vehicle. Not to mention, tons of expected fuel savings—up to thousands of dollars every year!

You could amplify those savings even more by linking your EV with home solar! The actual charge for your car from solar energy is usually way cheaper compared to public stations, and you know exactly where that juice is coming from—sweet, renewable sunshine!

The fact that tax credits for electric vehicles expire after October 1 and solar incentives finish up on December 31 implies it’s high time to jump into action for those sitting on the fence here.

Here’s how community solar projects can lower your electricity bill—no rooftop panels needed!
