Recently, Jensen Huang, the head of NVIDIA, shared his views on how generative AI is reshaping the job market, especially with its growing use across various industries. He expressed that careers in traditional coding might soon become obsolete due to rapid AI advancements, prompting younger folks to consider career options in sectors like agriculture, biology, and manufacturing.

NVIDIA has witnessed significant growth as the tech industry shifts its focus toward AI, particularly with the rising need for GPUs for advanced applications. In fact, this momentum has pushed NVIDIA’s market cap up to a staggering $4 trillion.

Although some criticize the tech scene as being stuck in a potentially fleeting AI bubble, Huang dismisses these concerns. He stated, “I don’t believe we are in the AI bubble because we are transitioning from traditional computing to accelerated computing,” reinforcing his belief that AI is a pivotal change rather than a temporary trend. Therefore, Huang emphasizes that every employee at NVIDIA should integrate and leverage AI in their daily tasks.

In a recently leaked recording from a meeting first reported by Business Insider, Huang made a bold statement: “I want every possible task to be automated with AI,” adding a promise of job security in the process.

“I’ve heard some managers at NVIDIA recommending employees to minimize their AI use. Are you kidding me?”

NVIDIA isn’t alone in its drive to use AI more in everyday operations. Earlier this year, Salesforce’s CEO, Marc Benioff, revealed that the company was reconsidering hiring software engineers because up to 50% of their code is created using AI, leading to incredible boosts in productivity.

Similarly, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also shared that AI contributes to around 30% of their coding processes, which has saved the company up to $500 million. Nonetheless, along with these innovations, job losses are starting to happen, indicating that upgrading skills, particularly in AI-related areas, may be essential for survival in future job markets.

In a warning from Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, it’s suggested that AI could eliminate up to 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs, presenting tough times for the Gen Z workforce. With AI rapidly taking over, it’ll be fascinating to see how the job landscape evolves in the near future.
