In a recent survey by JD Power, Tesla stole the spotlight, scoring an impressive 873 out of a possible 1,000 points in the 2025 tech survey, reported by Teslarati.
This score put Tesla far ahead of traditional automakers like Volkswagen and Toyota, which only managed to earn 432 and 436 points respectively. Quite a difference, right?
But here’s the catch: despite its high score, JD Power didn’t give any formal recognition to Tesla. The company doesn’t fulfill the award criteria, which apparently requires automakers to sell their vehicles across all U.S. states. Even Rivian, which scored the second-highest at 730 points, faced the same limit.
Because of this, the top official spot went to Genesis with 538 points, followed closely by Cadillac at 526 points. Interestingly, the survey took responses from a massive pool of 76,230 owners with 2025 model-year vehicles, marking this as the 10th edition of JD Power’s annual research.
According to the survey’s key findings, there was a noticeable decrease in tech-related issues, dropping by 6.3 per 100 vehicles compared to last year.
One standout feature this year? Automatic climate control! Drivers loved how easily they could adjust heating and cooling. On top of that, the blind spot camera emerged as the most commonly used feature, with 93% of drivers saying they use it regularly and 74% wishing it was available in future models.
However, not everything was smooth sailing. Some frustrations arose, notably with the car wash mode—a feature that aims to prepare your vehicle for automatic cleaning. It ranked as a common annoyance due to its placement within infotainment menus.
For Tesla, this unrecognized yet impressive performance highlights its tech innovation during a rough patch. The company has faced financial struggles throughout 2025, with global deliveries dropping by about 13% in Q2 compared to last year.
No matter which EV you end up driving, making that choice brings tons of perks for buyers and is great for the planet, too!
Owners enjoy reduced maintenance needs and lower running costs. Plus, electric vehicles are much quieter and produce zero tailpipe emissions, which can drastically improve air conditions in urban areas overcrowded with traffic.
