Vivo has recently initiated the beta testing for its upcoming major software update, known as OriginOS 6. This opportunity is available for early adopters using the Vivo X200 Pro and iQOO 13. The announcement came on August 22 via their community forum, mentioning that only a restricted number of slots are on offer, and registration is limited to a particular timeframe.
The company aims to recruit 500 testers for each model, totaling up to 1,000 openings. If you’re interested, mark your calendars because registration kicks off at 10:00 AM on August 22 and ends at 11:59 PM on August 26 (China Standard Time). The final list of participants will be revealed by 10:00 PM on August 28, and users can expect the beta version, based on Android 16, to start rolling out on September 1.
To take part, users must ensure their devices are on the most current system versions—specifically, 15.0.24.5.W10.V000L1 for the X200 Pro and 15.0.24.15.W10.V000L1 for the iQOO 13. You can verify this in Settings by going to System Management & Upgrade, then selecting System Upgrade and checking for Updates.
Important Details
Keep in mind that being part of a beta means you might run into some bugs, higher battery usage, and potential compatibility problems with apps. Vivo adds that there’s a built-in log tool that collects error data while in the background, and you’ll see an icon in the status bar suggesting it’s active. It’s a good idea to back up crucial data before diving into the update, even if it’s not supposed to overwrite your device.
Other points to consider: you’ll notice a “confidential” watermark on the interface, be sure to update your apps via the App Store after applying the update, and a Wi-Fi connection is a must for downloading to save on mobile data. Vivo is also offering a downgrade tool along with an easy-to-follow guide for anyone wanting to revert to their stable build.
While specifics on new features are expected to be unveiled closer to launch, OriginOS 6 promises to deliver a smoother user interface and better AI integration. For now, the beta is a unique chance for tech fans to get a sneak peek and help Vivo perfect everything ahead of the stable release.
