This is why getting angry can improve your overall happiness Have you lost your temper recently? If you’ve felt or expressed anger in the last week, believe it or not, you’re healthier than you think.

OK, well maybe not actually immortality, but there’s a new study saying that sex may actually help you live longer . Basically, a study published online in Psychoneuroendocrinology (trying say that three times fast or even one time slow) found that having sex once a week is linked to longer telomeres.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have frequent sex . According to one study published online in Psychoneuroendocrinology suggests that having sex once a week can make you live longer !

It's all to do with the increase in the length of female telomeres, the 'caps' at the end of your DNA which are associated with slower ageing, extended lifespan and better health, reports the Mail Online.

Researchers from the University of California in San Francisco looked at physical intimacy, partner support or conflict and general overall relationship satisfaction of around 130 women in long-term relationships.

Telomere lengths were analysed using blood samples taken from the women and the results, published in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology, showed that those who had sex on a weekly basis (even just once) had longer 'caps'.

It can even help you to live longer . According to a study done at Wilkes University, people who have sex a couple of times a week tend to have much higher amounts of the antibody immunoglobulin A (IgA) than those who have sex less than once a week .

Telomeres shorten with age and poor lifestyle habits, such as alcohol abuse. But being active including sexually – lengthens them.

Lead author Tomás Cabeza de Baca said: 'Over time, shortened telomeres may contribute to chronic degenerative diseases and premature mortality.

'Sexual intimacy may dampen the effects of stress by down-regulating stress response systems and up-regulating immune response.

'Over time, these patterns of stress function should result in longer telomere length,' PsyPost reported.

At the moment there is no evidence that sex has the same affect on men but nevertheless, we're sure you won't have a problem convincing your partner of the benefits.
