Calendar girls from a popular Airdrie fitness class put themselves in the picture to raise funds for two charities close to their hearts.

Lost in Music members posed for photos which ranged from dancing to drones to produce the 2020 calendar, which has already sold more than 400 copies and will contribute £2000 each to Maggie’s Lanarkshire and Breast Cancer Now.

They were inspired by class participants and other friends who have been affected by breast cancer – and 46 courageous participants even bravely ditched their bras and stripped down to just their underwear for a positive and poignant shot to celebrate their bodies and which is used for the October page to mark breast cancer awareness month.

So why is the calendar called “Beauty and the Beast“? All was revealed (in more ways than one) at the official launch October 24th of what is heralded as Britain’s first double-sided unisex charity calendar . The official presentation of the money raised takes place during the special presentation party night at

“Once we decided to do a calendar, we weren’t sure how many people would get involved, but we had 60 people turning up for our shoot in July and as well as taking the action photos, different poses and having shots from a drone, everyone brought cakes and sandwiches and made it a real fabulous afternoon.”

She said of the special photo for October: “We’d talked about doing this picture to highlight breast cancer awareness month, just directing everyone to have their arms across their chests, like a ‘naked truth’ picture.

“I didn’t know what to expect and thought maybe 10 people might do it – but 46 women decided to bare all for the shot. The emotion was just incredible; it was a very poignant moment and the bravery of these women was just overwhelming.

“The photo shows diversity and real women; it’s not just all people who are skinny or young. Some had been really emotional about doing it and a lot were body conscious, but it was totally everyone’s choice and there was real euphoria and pride when it had been taken.”
