A West Belfast football club is asking members to keep one of their manager’s family in their prayers after they passed away.

Tributes have been paid after Michael Willis died in Donegal.

News of the death of the key member of Colin Valley FC was announced by the club who have cancelled all events in the coming week as a mark of respect.

Stephen Magennis, a Sinn Fein councillor in the Colin area, also paid tribute, saying he “was sorry to hear the devastating news that my close friends Veronica Willis and Michael Willis son young Michael passed away as a result of an accident at sea in Donegal”.

“Micky has a long history of involvement in local football within the Poleglass and wider Colin Area - with clubs such as Colin Bhoys in his recent past. It was this long history within the area that brought him to our attention and was the reason we sought out Micky’s help when he became available - he gave the club everything he had these past few years and we are all so very thankful for everything he did for us.
