Thyroid problems 'could increase risk of developing anxiety'
Alicia Vikander has vowed to slow down after lockdown helped ease her anxiety.
The rock institution was a favourite haunt of a variety of rock legends including Alice Cooper, Slash, and members of Anthrax, Slayer and Red Hot Chili Peppers, while Dave Grohl hosted an after-party there in August 2008 following Foo Fighters’ epic London Wembley Stadium show.
In the wake of the closure, The Crobar's bar managers, siblings Sophie and Joe Woodard, have launched an online raffle this week to raise money for their staff and bartenders who are currently unemployed.
Testament to their legendary status, Foo Fighters personally gifted a mystery signed item to the raffle yesterday (23rd September), The Crobar has confirmed to Planet Rock.
Other items up for grabs in the raffle include The Crobar’s famous Jackson Demmelition Guitar that been hung up over the bar for a number of years, a £200 tattoo voucher, a Trooper painting, a rare bottle of Crobar Whiskey and a Crobar mechandise pack.
Covid-19 silent carriers 'just as likely to transmit the virus'
One study of South Korean Covid-19 cases revealed those without symptoms - known as being asymptomatic - had just as many viruses in their bodies as those showing signs of illness. Two studies published today have given further clues about the role played by 'silent' spreaders – who make up around one in five of the infected.
Sophie and Joe Woodard said: “So in light of these extremely tough times, we have put together a way to help out our staff that have been forced into unemployment by our inept government and greedy landlord, whilst also giving you a chance to win some mega Crobar memorabilia, and other sweet prizes.
“Here’s the deal: Buy tickets, win prizes. It’s that easy! All the money from the tickets will go directly to our staff, the backbone of the bar. See it as a virtual tip jar, or buying them one last shot (but you can also win stuff!).”
Tickets cost £4 each, £10 for 3 tickets, or £12 for 4 tickets, and you can find out more details on how to enter on.
The Crobar add: “We will be running this for two weeks so don’t sleep on it! Winners will be announced on our Facebook and Instagram, and also contacted by email. They will be picked by a random number generator.
6 weird signs you’re not getting enough iron
Iron deficiency is a common problem—and weird things can happen to your body when you’re not getting enough of this mineral.'Iron deficiency is the most common micronutrient deficiency worldwide,' explains Kelly Pritchett, Ph.D., R.D.N., assistant professor of sports nutrition at Central Washington University. In fact, the World Health Organization estimates that nearly half of the world’s 1.62 billion cases of anemia—a condition characterised by a lack of healthy red blood cells—circle back to iron deficiency.
“Please note this is not fundraising for our future, but more a thank you to our staff. Announcements on crowdfunding for the future will follow in due time.”
The Crobar have vowed to eventually open a new venue in another location, however they have said they will need to launch a crowdfunding campaign to raise the money.

Mysterious inflammatory syndrome tied to COVID-19 strikes adults as well as kids
Like the syndrome in children, MIS-A is a severe illness that targets multiple organs and causes increased inflammation. Bacteria and viruses that are deadly to one type of creature can evolve quickly to infect another. While the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (which causes COVID-19) is the latest example, a host of infectious and deadly diseases have hopped from animals to humans and even from humans to animals.

SAD Is Going To Hit Different This Year. Here’s How To Cope
Every year, like clockwork, seasonal affective disorder (SAD) rears its head. As daylight wanes and the nights close in, people feel the negative impact of the changing seasons in a way that’s far more severe than ‘winter blues’. The low mood, lack of energy and impulse to eat and sleep more which is all part and parcel of SAD (how crudely apt an acronym) is thought to affect around one in 15 people in the UK between September and April, according to the NHS. What’s more, women are four times more likely to experience it than men, and those between the ages of 18 and 30 or who have a family history of depression or bipolar disorder are at greater risk.
