Much like banana bread, the late Sir Captain Tom Moore and Zoom calls, Joe Wicks has become a figure from the coronavirus pandemic. Since the very beginning, the fitness coach and former personal trainer has been encouraging everyone to exercise, despite three national lockdowns. When Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the third one, Joe once again stepped in but this time with even more focus on children's welfare.

Joe made a statement in January to reveal he would be bringing back PE with Joe for a third time following the start of the third lockdown.

Much like the first lockdown, these sessions have been aimed more at children and families as the schools were forced to close again.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "They will be 20 minutes long and designed for children.

"Please please share this with as many families as you can and let your schools know so they can notify the parents ASAP and we can get as many young children taking part.

"This is so important for our children's emotional and mental health."

Throughout the latest lockdown, live streams of PE with Joe have been available to watch via YouTube.

The Body Coach has been leading fun, active classes, with regular fancy dress days, at 9am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

When he resumed his sessions, Joe revealed he was joined by more than 120,000 people across the world.

Why is PE with Joe ending?

The final session of PE with Joe is this morning, Friday, March 5, via YouTube at 9am.

Yesterday, The Body Coach posted: "After almost one-year since PE with Joe started in my living room and 115 workouts together, tomorrow (March 5) is the last day.

"With schools re-opening on Monday, it's time to say goodbye for now.

"See you all tomorrow at 9am for the finale.

"And don't forget it's Fancy Dress Friday."

All pupils are going to be heading back to their schools on Monday, March 8, thus why PE with Joe is stopping.

As his sessions are more children and family-focused, the classes are coming to an end as they return to their classrooms.

This doesn't mean PE with Joe will not be back in the future though.

The Body Coach made a point in his Instagram post to say that it is "goodbye for now", suggesting there will be more classes at some point.

He may want to hold these live sessions again during the school holidays and as they have been so popular, it seems likely he will be bringing them back.

Joe was made an MBE last year, having raised £580,000 for the NHS by hosting his online workouts.

One of his classes also helped him achieve a Guinness World Record as nearly one million people tuned in to watch a live workout.

PE with Joe is available to watch on YouTube.
