In the documentary “The Coronation,” her majesty recalled the one and only time she had to wear the prestigious accessory at the age of 25. At that time, she was just crowned queen. “There are some disadvantages to the crowns, but otherwise, they’re quite important things,” she said.

The grandmother of Prince William and Prince Harry also said that the crown is not very comfortable. “I’ve seen one coronation and been the recipient in the other, which is pretty remarkable. It’s the sort of beginning of one’s life, really, as a sovereign,” she said (via Entertainment Weekly).

Wearing a crown isn't as easy as it looks—just ask Queen Elizabeth II. In a rare interview for the documentary The Coronation on the Smithsonian Channel, Her Majesty discussed the " disadvantages " of wearing it.

Luckily for Queen Elizabeth II, the person who’s next in line to the throne is her son, Prince Charles. The dad of Prince William and Prince Harry won’t be required to wear crown jewels as the new king.

In the event that Prince Charles dies, gets sick or is unable to perform his duties as the king, the position will be handed over to his eldest son, Prince William. As the future king, he also won’t get to experience the discomfort of having to wear the crown jewels.

But it is important to note that Queen Elizabeth II’s royal succession can change in an instant. Before Prince William and Middleton had children, Prince Harry was third in line to the throne. This means that if his older brother dies or can’t perform any royal duties, he would take his place.

Now that Prince Harry has a niece and a nephew, he is now sixth in line to the throne. His fiancée, Meghan Markle, won’t be queen. And Prince William’s wife, Middleton, won’t also be queen because they are not biologically related to the queen.

For instance, Queen Elizabeth II is married to Prince Philip. The 96-year-old’s title is prince and not king.
