Style I went for a walk in the rain testing the viral Color Wow Dream Coat. Here's what happened
Autumn/Winter trends made easy
With the new season in full swing, it’s time to give your wardrobe an autumn update. We’ve taken eight of the biggest catwalk trends and scoured the high-street to bring you easy, affordable versions which will have you looking bang up to date in no time!
My hair is best compared to a three-year-old – sometimes it happily cooperates and I’m treated to ‘good hair days’, while on other occasions it throws a major tantrum and refuses to do anything I ask of it. As well as its toddler tendencies, whenever the forecast is predicting rain or humidity, my fine hair gives me the middle finger and prepares to take frizz to a whole new level. So, when I discovered this anti-frizz product that claims to ‘waterproof’ your hair, I just had to get my hands on it. Of course, the product I’m talking about is the
I'm an interior designer and this is how I use blue as an accent color
Whether you’re looking to achieve a soothing space, or a smart and sophisticated look, there are so many ways to make your home pop with blueAn endless crowd pleaser thanks to its versatility and timelessness, blue remains one of my favorite shades to decorate with. While a brave choice, it’s very easy to work with and can be layered with so many other colors. At a time when maximalist decor trends are on the rise this is the perfect time to begin experimenting with decorating with blue.
If you’re caught up on your hair history, you’ll know that this cult hero was launched back in 2017 (since then it has amassed a large celebrity following including the likes ofand J-Lo) but, earlier this year celeb stylist Chris Appleton posted a TikTok featuring the product and it quite literally blew up (19.4 million views kind of blow up to be exact). As Chris demonstrates in the video, he satisfyingly lets a water droplet slip down the model’s hair, leaving it untouched from moisture and free from any frizz. I like to think of it as a raincoat for your hair.
Now onto the fine details. What can its humidity-proofing powers (as the brand calls it) be dedicated to? Well, the hydrating formula is packed with heat-activated polymers which coat thein a water-repellent film, while calendula and chamomile extracts add that glossy shine. Pretty clever, huh? So naturally, with its incredibly impressive claims and very fair £27 price tag, I ran to the checkouts quicker than Kim’s earring fell to the bottom of the ocean.
Camel Coat Combustions: So freshly reins the coat classic
this autumn and winter again comes up with numerous coat trends. On the one hand there is the buffer Coat , which has blossomed into a trendy and probably warmest fashion piece in recent years, on the other hand the cuddly blanket to take away-the Teddy Coat , and thirdly of the wool coat , the classic par Excellence under the autumn/winter trends . If you have the choice, you now have the agony.
After scrolling my way through tutorials on how to use Dream Coat, I discovered that less is not more: the brand recommends drenching your hair in the product. So, after shampooing and conditioning, I partitioned my hair and let loose on the spritzing. I’ll admit, at first, I was rather sceptical to apply that much product – as a loyalstan, I’m used to pea-sized amounts – however, I was shocked that my hair didn’t feel greasy nor tacky. Instead, the water-like consistency felt completely undetectable on my already damp lengths.
Now, when it comes to drying, I have a confession to make: no matter how many salon apps I go to, or tutorials I have with professional stylists, mastering the perfect blow dry is something I can never seem to get the hang of. Going by Chris’ video, getting the perfect tension while drying to reduce volume and smooth down flyaways seemed like a rather crucial step, so I opted for my trustedrather than a dryer and barrel brush. At this point, I didn’t know if I was to expect something miraculous, but I did notice how easy and surprisingly tangle-free my hair was to dry (I can only assume that was Dream Coat working its magic).
Primark shares gorgeous £55 coat perfect for autumn but shoppers all have the same complaint
Shoppers thought the coat was 'unreal' but were left frustratedThe fashion brand reposted Khloe Devlin's video which has her layering Primark items to form the perfect autumn outfit. She starts with the underwear, a bodysuit, a woollen vest, plaid shorts, and tops the look off with a long fleece-lined black coat, black boots, a beret, and gloves. One item in particular stood out for shoppers - the coat.
The complete look? Fortunately, my lengths naturally have a slight shine to them; however, boy did this kick it up a gear – it’s basically the laminated hair look in a bottle. I was genuinely shocked at howmy hair looked – for reference, the way my hair rippled as I ran my fingers through made me think of a Pantene commercial. It also felt noticeably softer, which considering I have freshly bleached hair, is quite the achievement. It didn’t leave any sticky residue behind and even a few days following, my hair still maintained its high-shine finish which was good enough for me to forego my regular styling routine altogether.
As for the waterproof-ness, in classic British fashion, I put it to the test by going for a walk in the drizzle, and while a few wispy strays turned frizzy (as expected), I couldn’t quite believe that I came home without my hair looking like a wet mop. I do have to say that its high-shine prowess impressed me more than its rainproof powers (let’s be real, can a product truly waterproof your hair? I’m not convinced) but it definitely helped deflect water to some degree and did a masterful job at keeping the majority of frizz at bay while I strolled through the rain.

But, as said, it’s the mirror-like shine that truly sets it aside from any other anti-frizz product I’ve tried – and trust me, I’ve tried a lot. If you don’t believe my hype, just let the thousands of 5* reviews on Dream Coat and my favourite hair heroes from the brand, do all the talking.
