Coronavirus: Two-thirds of UK freelance professionals face income squeeze

Coronavirus: Two-thirds of UK freelance professionals face income squeeze Almost two-thirds of self-employed professionals in the UK have seen their incomes squeezed by the coronavirus crisis, according to a new survey. New figures by LinkedIn, shared exclusively with Yahoo Finance UK, suggest many workers and particularly freelancers have had to rely on personal savings, with work drying up because of the pandemic. The data comes as the UK government rolls out its crisis support grants for the self-employed, announcing on Monday it will begin taking the first claims from 13 May.

Married at First Sight Australia spoilers follow - including the finale episode.

Season four of Married at First Sight Australia might have first aired back in 2017, but viewers in the UK are only just getting sucked into the drama thanks to an outing on E4. In fact it's been so popular, that season five will also debut on the channel in August.

Airing on weeknights, we've followed the couples down the aisle, onto their honeymoons, for home stays and - crunch time - the final commitment ceremony. But who was a match made in heaven, and who decided to throw their marriage all the way down to hell?

Sean Holland and Susan Rowlings

These two seemed absolutely smitten with each other from the moment they laid eyes on each other. If we didn't believe in love at first sight, Sean and Susan did a pretty good job of convincing us otherwise.

He rode in on his horse, she was swept off her feet. But the fairytale started to crumble when the reality of their long-distance hit. Sean was a farm boy, Susan loved the city - can we make it any more obvious?

Back to work day: Commuters pack onto Tube and trains - but social distancing proves IMPOSSIBLE on limited services - after Boris Johnson urged workers to return today Boris Johnson has said that anyone who cannot work from home should attempt to return to their work - but social media videos make it crystal clear that public transport has not been ramped up.Job seekers wear face masks and maintain social distance before an exam in Seoul, South Korea, on April 25.

Mid-way through, after a sobering few days in a very remote part of Australia, Susan broached the heartbreaking subject of just remaining friends. Both the experts and audiences at home were devastated.

But when they still chose to remain in the experiment, there was a glimmer of hope, and after a little while longer the hurdle that was their different lifestyles seemed to shrink.

Sadly though, things didn't work out. According to each of their social media accounts, both Sean and Susan have moved on with their separate lives. In fact, Sean is now married to someone else.

Nadia Stamp and Anthony Manton

Perhaps the hardest couple to read, these two seemed to really hit it off sometimes, and then not so much in others.

Anthony was not afraid to voice his opinions, but Nadia held her own and even put him in his place during a very awkward dinner confrontation with fellow contestant Cheryl.

In the final days of the experiment Nadia started to voice more concerns, particularly when it came down to the idea of packing up her life and moving to live with Anthony. He was adamant that she would be the one that would need to make that change, due to his 'niche' work.

It was tricky to guess which way their vowel renewal was going to go, but as it turns out it didn't really matter because they split as soon as the cameras stopped filming. In fact, Nadia claimed that she was 'dropped like a hot cake' by Anthony once the show ended.

These days, Nadia is happily dating cricketer Glen Talarico and announced on Instagram that she's moved to be with him.

Simon McQuillan and Alene Khatcherian

Despite being not sure about an initial spark, Alene and Simon's personalities seemed to mesh from the get-go. Over time their bond got stronger - and a haircut, arranged by Alene during Married at First Sight's 'surrender date' only appeared to help them grow closer.

Australian-led motion for an inquiry into coronavirus is formally adopted by the World Health Assembly after China signed on at the last minute

Australian-led motion for an inquiry into coronavirus is formally adopted by the World Health Assembly after China signed on at the last minute None of the WHO's 194 member states raised objections to the resolution brought by the European Union on behalf of more than 100 countries including Australia, China and Japan. 'Is the [World] Health Assembly prepared to adopt the draft resolution as proposed?' asked Keva Bain, the Bahamas ambassador who serves as the assembly's president.'As I see no requests for the floor, I take it that there is no objection and the resolution is therefore adopted.' Applause erupted from officials hosting the annual gathering.

But Simon had some trouble opening up about his feelings, alluding to not wanting to get hurt and some recent loss in his life.

On their final decision day, Simon and Alene each read out their heartfelt vows and decided to stay together.

Fans of this couple will be sad to find out that they later decided it wouldn't work, each going their separate ways but remaining friends.

"Besides the distance, the different lifestyles and what he wants to do with his life and what kind of future he wants for himself, there was a huge difference there in the goals," Alene told OK! magazine in 2017 (via Daily Mail).

But, in happier news, one quick look at Simon's Instagram account confirms that the curls are back.

Sharon Marsh and Nick Furphy

Talk about fireworks!

From the moment they met, Sharon and Nick were bouncing off one another. They said the attraction was there, and the conversation flowed too.

Despite a few tiny setbacks (his past trips to the strip club and his party-boy ways), they seemed to go from strength-to-strength. Sharon had concerns about trust, due to being hurt in the past, but ultimately they each showed how committed they were and - of course! - decided to stay together on decision day.

Ways To Help Your Children Cope With Stress

Ways To Help Your Children Cope With Stress Finding some difficulty in managing your child’s emotional and social needs amid the pandemic? These pointers might help. Best Ways To Help Children Cope With Stress Amid The PandemicIt’s safe to say that a lot of us are stressed these days because we’re all living under an unprecedented pandemic that seemingly came out of nowhere. However, since all of us are stressed, we tend to forget that the children in our families can go through the same thing and that they may not be able to cope with it as well as we do.

In quite shocking news, Sharon and Nick didn't last that long after the show ended.

Talking to New Idea back then about her decision to end it, Sharon explained: "I love Nick, but after moving to Melbourne eight weeks ago to be with him, I soon realised that I'm not in love with him."

Michelle Marsh and Jesse Konstantinoff

Unlike her sister, Michelle did not seem taken with her new husband Jesse at first glance. Their wedding day seemed awkward and a little uncomfortable at times, in stark contrast to the couple they were sharing it with.

Their relationship seemed to move in the right direction on their honeymoon, but any romance then dampened when they returned and moved in together.

Michelle was uncomfortable to talk to Jesse about her feelings, and for a time he was convinced that all was going well. They each admitted to moving towards the friend-zone, but in the final days Jesse opened up about his true feelings and said he wanted to fight for a romantic relationship with Michelle.

Unfortunately, she failed to find the door that Jesse wanted to walk through with her and she decided to end their relationship. The pair were both keen to remain lifelong friends.

Andrew Hills and Vanessa Belvedere

One very shy introvert, and one very vocal extrovert, it looked for a minute that Andrew and Vanessa wouldn't be able to overcome their communication problems.

Angelina Jolie Says She Left Brad Pitt 'For The Wellbeing Of My Family' 'It was the right decision.'Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's split shocked fans around the world. However, the actress is now making it clear that she's moving on from her marriage, and putting her children first.

But after some advice from the show's experts, the pair gradually grew closer and it seemed that they were well on their way to falling head-over-heels.

In the final decision day ceremony, they each decided to stay married and take things forward beyond the show.

Sadly, it didn't end up lasting and the pair then broke up. "I was disappointed I left the show without someone. [But] we were just too different," Andy told OK! exclusively (via nowtolove.com/au) at the time.

He later revealed that the break-up had been "a mutual decision" and that there were no hard feelings between them.

After the Married at First Sight Australia finale originally aired, Vanessa went Instagram official with a new boyfriend (but kept his identity hidden).

Cheryl Maitland and Jonathan Troughton

We already know that this fell apart, long before the camera crews had packed up.

Despite not feeling an initial spark, Cheryl tried her best to give things a go with her then-husband Jonathan. But when she admitted that the attraction wasn't there at first, he seemed to give up on making effort and things went from bad to worse at the next group dinner.

Having swapped numbers with another wife in the experiment, Jonathan had clearly checked out. Cheryl wasn't willing to stick around after that, and their chapter as a couple was swiftly over...

Andrew Jones and Lauren Bran

Quite probably the shortest marriage in the show's history, Lauren left Andrew on their wedding night.

After their ceremony seemed to go well, they left the cameras behind to head back to their hotel. It was on their way back out to meet with the rest of their wedding party, that Lauren took off into a cab and didn't return.

The pair hashed it out with the help of an expert, but ultimately decided they could not come back from it. Lauren left the experiment, and Andrew...

... matched with Cheryl!

After her marriage to Jonathan came to an abrupt end, she opened up to the experts about having felt a spark with Andrew during the group dinner. They had been seated next to each other, and the conversation certainly seemed to flow!

Agreeing that they could indeed be a match, the experts arranged a first date. Andrew and Cheryl really hit it off and, after a second date, decided to re-enter the experiment as a couple. They were not married, but moved in together and continued with the same steps as the other couples.

Unfortunately, their late start as a couple proved too much to overcome and things took a downward turn pretty quickly. Cheryl felt that Andrew didn't have her back, particularly during a boys night that included some negative discussion about her. As for Andrew, he didn't feel that Cheryl was fully interested in him.

Sadly the initial spark went out, and the pair ultimately decided to go their separate ways before the end of the experiment.

Cheryl has since found love away from the show, posting adorable loved-up snaps on social media.

Michael Tomic and Scarlett Cooper

Michael had very high expectations of his bride-to-be, practically handing the experts a 'shopping list' of what he was looking for. When Scarlett turned up beside him, he seemed pleased. For a while.

Unfortunately cracks started to form on their honeymoon, particularly after Michael came clean about his second job as a stripper (no judgement here, but probably should have told her earlier?).

The pair decided to move into the friend-zone, but there did seem to be a little bit of flirtatious mixed messaging going on - until they each decided to leave, alone.

John Robertson and Deborah Brosnan

It seemed quite clear from their first meeting that John and Deborah weren't quite on the same page. She wanted adventure and new experiences, he was comfortable being a family man.

The pair gave it a shot, but after a fairly disastrous honeymoon (which saw them moving into different rooms) they called it quits.

Married at First Sight Australia is airing on E4 in the UK.
