Many people have been severely affected by the ongoing global pandemic, and that includes all those who had their wedding planned for 2020, or even 2021.
Although some couples chose to go ahead with much smaller numbers, others have opted to delay their wedding for a later date, when they can have everyone they want there.
However, Aldi wants to help one lucky couple who have had to postpone their special day and with that, it has launched the ‘Walking up the Aisle’ campaign, which will see the winning couple win €5,500 worth of flowers and Champagne for their wedding.
The competition is being launched in the run-up to Valentine’s Day, which as we all know is the most romantic day of the year.
Chanel Métiers D'Art Was The Celebration Of Feminism, Creativity And Pearls We Needed In 2020
'This show, more than any other, shows the magic creatives weave'There’s never been a more vital time for Chanel’s Métiers d’Art show. A quiet, rarefied collection that falls in the first week of December, it has, in many ways, always been more a celebration of people than clothes. It is Chanel’s genuflection to the artisan houses and makers who craft the buttons, feathers, hats, pleats, and all-round magic that adorn Chanel’s collections. They are the creatives who can make collars as delicate and delicious as curls of white chocolate from French lace; costume jewellers who can make a one-inch button as beautiful and unique as a red diamond.
Makeup artist Bonnie Ryan launched the competition as she herself has postponed her wedding this year.
Aldi will treat the winning couple by providing them with the flowers for their wedding along with Champagne up to the value of €5,500.
Aldi will also provide an expert florist to assist in preparations for the wedding day. Think beautiful bouquets for the ceremony and bridal party, as well as celebratory bubbles for all of your guests at your drinks reception!
Speaking about the exciting competition, John Curtin, Aldi’s Group Buying Director said:
Heart-warming reunion of husband and wife of nearly 70 years
Norman Knowles, 93, moved into Woodlands Westhoughton Dementia Care Home in Bolton, Lancashire, to be with his wife Constance, 92, after the pair were separated by the pandemic. The couple were never apart for more than a few days after their wedding in March 1951, and they worked together at a household store until their retirement.Norman used to regularly visit Constance for dinners at her care home where she has lived since 2017 because she suffers from vascular dementia. But since March he has only been able to visit her through a window twice, only holding her hand while wearing a plastic glove through a small opening.
‘There is a real sense of excitement within the business because this is such a fantastic prize for a couple that has had to postpone their nuptials over the past year.
‘At Aldi, we work with fantastic Irish flower suppliers, and the winning couple will be provided with the best of the best service ahead of their big day!’
