News is just in that Selfridges will be hosting micro weddings at their iconic flagship store in London’s Oxford Street this summer.
With Brown Thomas belonging to the Selfridges Group, the big question is, could we be expecting something similar this side of the pond?
Imagining saying ‘I do’ in the luxurious surroundings of Brown Thomas on Grafton Street in the heart of Dublin, a once-in-a-lifetime experience that would certainly stand out from the crowd.
For many couples, Selfridges is that iconic store where they bought their wedding bands, found the perfect wedding suit or even the dreamiest wedding dress caught their eye. And now the landmark location is about to hold a whole new special meaning for brides and grooms-to-be as the store has obtained a license to host micro weddings.

From summer 2021, couple will be able to say ‘I do’ in one of the most well-known department stores in the world and we reckon Irish brides and grooms would be up for a similar experience in our own Brown Thomas.
newly acquired license will allow the luxurious department store to offer couples a ‘non-traditional ceremony in a venue like no other.’ The store has created a ‘Wedding Suite’ on the fourth floor where couples can choose from three specially created packages.
The ‘Just-the-two-of-us’ package accommodates four guests and includes beauty and grooming appointments, a ‘low-key’ ceremony, a wedding breakfast hamper and a reception in the store’s in-house cinema with popcorn and Champagne.

Meanwhile, the ‘Earth Lovers’ package will accommodate 20 guests and includes an appointment to find vintage or rented wedding outfits and a three-course wedding mean in the store’s Brasserie of Light restaurant.
The final package, the ‘All-Out Extraordinary’ experience allows the bride and groom to invite 20 guests to a ceremony officiate by comedian and drag queen Jonny Woo. A three-course meal is included in a private dining room along with a DJ set from one of the in-house DJ’s!
Selfridges will also accommodate everything from makeover and styling to canapé consultations and even custom-made floral arrangements.
‘For those looking for a truly unique way to get married this summer, we’re excited to launch weddings at Selfridges,’ says Rebecca Warburton, Selfridges director of events and customer experiences.
